Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "Sweeney Todd" only tentative?

No, Jerry Springer wasn't nixed. There are definite plans to bring it to Broadway.
No, SWEENEY is definite. They are already holding auditions.

I think "The Color Purple" is supposed to be coming in next season.
Things don't look good at all for "Jerry Springer." Doubtful. Very doubtful.

Things aren't doubtful at all for JERRY SPRINGER. DId you read the playbill article last week? It sounded definite. It's NOT doubtful at all.
MEF - From what I gathered from the audition notice, they seem to be going to unknowns. Since they have to double as the orchestra, they're looking for musicians as well. It's a strange concept...and they're made Pirelli into a woman. I don't understand the logic, but hopefully it will work.

I actually saw a high school with a female Pirelli last year; my good friend played her and it was very fun to see it as a woman. Also Christine Baranski in "Mame"

Jerry Herman has actually said he expects to bring Mame back to Broadway sometime in the next two to three seasons.

What happened to the planned revival of "Barefoot in the Park" that Amanda Peet was rumored to be starring in?

The playbill article last week regarding Jerry Springer was a PR statement from a Production Spokesperson stating that there still are "plans" for a Broadway production. (I currently have "plans" to have a show on Broadway next season too - I still have a better chance at winning Lotto
) The press release did not say that it was "definitely" coming to Broadway. They are just trying to be optimistic and trying to keep interest in it here going. They don't have the money. They don't know where they are going to get the money. The craziness going on in the UK has made getting backers an even tougher proposition.
I would love to see JStO here, and I hope that they can pull it off. But they are going to need some serious luck in order to do it.

No word about Peete, but last I heard, Barefoot is still scheduled for the 2005-2006 season with Scott Elliott directing.

Thats basically all I know. I believe they go through the decades and sing songs by famous girl groups of that decade. Regarding the rest of the plot, I have no clue.

I am very excited for "Barefoot" especially with Scott Elliot at the helm...he breathed new life into "The Women." What a fabulous production!
