2005-2006 season#0
Posted: 3/3/05 at 4:28pmok i know about Lennon, Mambo Kings, Three Penny Opera, Jersey Boys and Sweeney Todd, and a revival of the Odd Couple. What other shows, musical or play, could we see in the 2005-2006 season?
re: 2005-2006 season#4
Posted: 3/3/05 at 4:34pmJerry Springer is aimed for early 2006.
re: 2005-2006 season#5
Posted: 3/3/05 at 4:38pmI thought that was nixed?
re: 2005-2006 season#6
Posted: 3/3/05 at 4:40pmCorrect me if I'm wrong, but isn't "Sweeney Todd" only tentative?

No, Jerry Springer wasn't nixed. There are definite plans to bring it to Broadway.
No, SWEENEY is definite. They are already holding auditions.

I think "The Color Purple" is supposed to be coming in next season.
Things don't look good at all for "Jerry Springer." Doubtful. Very doubtful.

Things aren't doubtful at all for JERRY SPRINGER. DId you read the playbill article last week? It sounded definite. It's NOT doubtful at all.
MEF - From what I gathered from the audition notice, they seem to be going to unknowns. Since they have to double as the orchestra, they're looking for musicians as well. It's a strange concept...and they're made Pirelli into a woman. I don't understand the logic, but hopefully it will work.
re: 2005-2006 season#11
Posted: 3/3/05 at 5:42pmI actually saw a high school with a female Pirelli last year; my good friend played her and it was very fun to see it as a woman. Also Christine Baranski in "Mame"
re: 2005-2006 season#12
Posted: 3/3/05 at 5:44pm"Mame" isn't coming to Broadway...
re: 2005-2006 season#14
Posted: 3/3/05 at 5:54pmJerry Herman has actually said he expects to bring Mame back to Broadway sometime in the next two to three seasons.

The playbill article last week regarding Jerry Springer was a PR statement from a Production Spokesperson stating that there still are "plans" for a Broadway production. (I currently have "plans" to have a show on Broadway next season too - I still have a better chance at winning Lotto
) The press release did not say that it was "definitely" coming to Broadway. They are just trying to be optimistic and trying to keep interest in it here going. They don't have the money. They don't know where they are going to get the money. The craziness going on in the UK has made getting backers an even tougher proposition.
I would love to see JStO here, and I hope that they can pull it off. But they are going to need some serious luck in order to do it.

re: 2005-2006 season#21
Posted: 3/3/05 at 6:04pmNo word about Peete, but last I heard, Barefoot is still scheduled for the 2005-2006 season with Scott Elliott directing.
re: 2005-2006 season#22
Posted: 3/3/05 at 6:05pmThats basically all I know. I believe they go through the decades and sing songs by famous girl groups of that decade. Regarding the rest of the plot, I have no clue.
re: 2005-2006 season#23
Posted: 3/3/05 at 6:07pmI am very excited for "Barefoot" especially with Scott Elliot at the helm...he breathed new life into "The Women." What a fabulous production!
