LaGUARDIA CONCERT HALL, 100 Amsterdam Avenue & West 65th Street in Manhattan. For the second consecutive year, the Drama Desk Awards Show telecast is being made available to PBS affiliates, nationwide, for broadcast. Joining Harvey Fierstein as presenters will be, among others, ANGELA LANSBURY, HARRY CONNICK JR, SIGOURNEY WEAVER, JONATHAN PRYCE, FRAN DRESCHER, PAUL RUDD, PATTI LuPONE, TAYE DIGGS, KELLI O'HARA, and CYNTHIA NIXON. The show will also feature performances from JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LIVING IN PARIS, GREY GARDENS, SWEENEY TODD, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, and JERSEY BOYS, and more to come!

The very purpose of these awards -- to celebrate the very best the New York Theatre season has to offer and to recognize and reward performing artists, plays and musicals, without differentiating between Broadway, Off Broadway, and Off Off Broadway -- is unique among all the rest.

The 2006 Drama Desk Awards Show will be made available to PBS affiliates nationwide via satellite feed on June 2, 2006 at Noon EDT. (Stations can record it for broadcast any time in June-August.) Among the PBS affiliates committed to airing the show are those in media markets as diverse and distinctive as Boston, Bowling Green OH, Buffalo, Los Angeles/Palm Springs, Marquette MI, Memphis, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Nashville, New York City, Palm Beach FL, San Bernardino CA, San Francisco, and Tampa/St. Petersburg/Sarasota, with more coming on board every few days now.
