Hey, I'm sure nobody gives a ****, but I had time to kill and I was just curious what effect (or lack thereof) the Tony noms had (or didn't have) on shows open right now, so I checked Telecharge.com for the best available seats for tomorrow's (sunday) matinee... Again, I doubt anyone cares, but in case anyone's curious like me, here's what I found-- seems like Frost/Nixon, Curtains, The Pirate Queen (and its 0 noms), and maybe Company a tad, are the only ones who the nominations have have really impacted:
SPRING AWAKENING: Right Orchestra, Row J
GREY GARDENS: Center Orchestra, Row D
CURTAINS: Left Mezzanine, Row O
MARY POPPINS: Sold Out
LOVEMUSIK: Right Orchestra, Row J
THE PIRATE QUEEN: Center Orchestra, Row B
LEGALLY BLONDE: Left Balcony, Row H
COMPANY: Center Orchestra, Row M
A CHORUS LINE: Center Mezzanine, Row B
LES MISERABLES: Left Orchestra, Row K
110 IN THE SHADE: Left Mezzanine, Row CC
FROST/NIXON: Center Mezzanine, Row G
RADIO GOLF: Center Orchestra, Row E
DEUCE: Center Orchestra, Row K
CORAM BOY: Center Orchestra, Row K
TALK RADIO: Center Orchestra, Row G
A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN: Right Orchestra, Row D
JOURNEY'S END: Right Orchestra, Row J
INHERIT THE WIND: Center Orchestra, Row D

I don't think this is really an indication. A lot of these good seats being released are house seats.
You're right. I'm sure there are other factors and we won't know till Monday morning, I just thought it's the best indicator accessible right now.
How many tickets did you search for. It's so much easier to get one ticket than two or more (which most people get).
I searched for pairs of tickets (2).

Yeah, I think that'll be the true test. I love when shows release house seats...it's my favorite way to get tickets haha.
Plus, depending on the production, the shows that offer premium tickets block off big chunks of the orchestra from those who are searching for regular priced seats.
Interesting idea despite the limitations...for comparison's sake, though, I wonder what seats would've been available if you had searched one week from today for last Sunday's best seats.

That, at best, is not a good indicator of ticket sales. As has been pointed out, many productions block off large portions of the center orchestra (and parts of the sides as well) for premium seating. About half of the unsold premium seats are released at regular price a week before the performance, then I believe half of the remaining seats are released at regular price the day before, with the remaining released the day of. Plus, you don't know whether or not you would have had those sames seats 2 weeks ago. It's not really a measure of anything, esp. since the online ticketing services are programmed to have the best available be the closest row from the stage (i.e., row J seat 101 in the center is definitely better than row E seat 29 on the far left, but E comes before J so its better, according to the computer).
I was talking with a mom and daughter in the Imperial lobby before Coram Boy tonight. They had gotten their tickets at TKTS and had A 105 and 106. Dead in front of the stage.

I've actually found it to be the opposite. When I searched for one show, row L center came up, but the next was row C first seat on the left aisle. They usually do it by center,

"They usually do it by center,"
I think it depends on the show. I never get consistent results, but usully it's always on the sides. I wish it were more like selecting a seat on an airplane...they show you a clickable map of the seating area and you pick your seats like that. It would make it a lot easier, that's for sure. The sad thing is it's almost cheaper to fly somewhere than to purchase a ticket to a Broadway show!!

I know the theatre I work at does it as a cone shape starting center orchestra...then it fans out.
Anyway, I saw two Best Musical noms Wednesday (day after announcement) and many people were congratulationg the BO people and merchandisers on the Tony noms...so they mean something, I guess.
Not sure what the merchandise sellers and BO workers have to do with it...
I saw SPRING AWAKENING again tonight, and the usher told me it's been sold out since the nominations came out.
It'd probably have been more interesting if you had the same results from a search before the nods came out.

OKAY, B3, that actually made me laugh. It's a good point.
What did you think of the show this time around, munk? Was it your second time?

Bso- What shows did you see?
Just wait and see the grosses in the next few weeks. That will tell.
BSO: It was my 2nd time. I first saw it in previews in November.
The things I dislike about the show, I still think are bad. There are some horribly laughable spots where people in the audience actually started laughing.
But overall, it was the same show that I saw 6 months ago. Some new vocal arrangements and improved orchestrations, and I certainly liked the show, but I still can't but think it's horribly overhyped.

Spring Awakening may be the show it helps the most.
I was thinking about seeing it but they'd done away with their discount codes so I'll put it off. The Tony noms bump only lasts so long.

Thanks, munk.
I want to see it again just because my mind wasn't all there. I came up to see EVIL DEAD's last show at 11 (and saw SPRING AWAKENING at
so I just wanted to get out of SPRING AWAKENING and go to EVIL DEAD.

The Tony noms bump only lasts so long.
Basically....
The few days after the awards we'll see bumps and dips in the box office as well...only time will tell.
