Sardi’s Sold to the Shuberts; Will Undergo Renovations Mar 28 2026, 04:08:56 AM
While on paper Sardi's was owned by Max Klimavicius, in practice the Shuberts held much sway over it. Rumors from Shubert employees is to expect more steakhouse items to be on the menu.
Quite frankly, it really needs some sort of update. I ate there on a whim just a few weeks ago, and I felt like I was in a retirement home. But that wasn't because of the age of the diners, but just the overall aura of sitting there just felt "old."

I sort of disagree. I think pretty much everyone in the cast is only competent and not doing anything really spectacular, although I admit Ben Levi Ross as Mother’s Younger Brother is probably the best in the role that I'

Book of Mormon? Mar 19 2026, 09:53:28 PM
Tonight's anniversary performance introduced a new joke, replacing Jeffrey Dahmer with another infamous Jeffrey, and it received a huge laugh.
That said, it's actually anniversary is on the 24th. Anyone know why they decided to celebrate tonight? I mean, yes, Trey Parker and Matt Stone were there, as was Andrew Rannels, but other than math, there wasn't anything really all that special. But scheduling issues is a rather lame excuse.

Why are they doing this in June when the anniversary performance is, well, tonight? Shouldn't they have done that this week?

It's selling to people on this board and other theater needs. They're seeing it now. I looked at two weeks worth of sales after the official opening and there are plenty of tickets to be had . . . at least half the house.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in “nose breathing” by performers on Broadway? Mar 9 2026, 08:22:33 PM
Ensemble17591322022 said: "I know the nose breathing is for vocal safety to prevent drying out, but it looks (and sounds) so unnatural to me since people don’t really inhale through the nose before speaking in real life."
What the hell are you talking about. People should be inhaling through their nose and exhaling through their mouth. That's medical science. - It filters toxins: The hairs inside your nose (cilia), act as a natural filtration system, preventing allergens, dust and pollen from entering the lungs. With mouth breathing, everything you inhale goes straight to your lungs.
- It humidifies the air: Your nasal passages moisturize and warm the air you inhale. When the air that comes in is closer to body temperature, it’s easier for your lungs to use.
- It produces nitric oxide: Breathing through your nose, also called nasal breathing, releases nitric oxide (NO). That nitric oxide helps widen your blood vessels and makes it easier for nutrient-rich oxygenated blood to reach all of your body’s organs and tissues.

Yep. And if they want more of them, they'd knock it off with making some seats unavailable to singles."
I kept trying to buy a single ticket to a show at the National Theater in Washington.D C. Ticketmaster wouldn't let me buy a single seat

This. If they had kicked them out, there would absolutely have been a show "waiting in the wings." The Shuberts weren't expecting this closure. They told the staff that they probably won't have anything until August.

Shows aren't required to use it. So it's possible those shows aren't, or it's just not yet implemented.

Well, Disney was contractually prohibited from releasing it before 2021 (I think the original release date was the threshold date). Disney had to convince the show's producers to allow them to release it early.
They paid $80 million, but despite the obnoxious fans who are caterwauling their way through the current screenings, the jury is out on whether or not this

That's a really bold claim, as it presumes to attract people who otherwise would not come have come to NYC and/or who would not see a show. Not even Vegas could sustain its "Broadway West"

Foreigners aren't coming over this summer. Europeans and Canadians aren't traveling to the US this summer. Maybe Asians are, haven't seen numbers on them, but it's a drastic plunge that likely doesn't aide in any struggling shows."
You would be wrong - as someone who works at a long running Broadway show - 60% of the crowd are tourists from Europe & Canada , most people do not care the least about Trump andpolitics - I’m in the real world - it’s all tourists - same as always and it’s almost end of June - still waiting for what The View told me to come true, again normal people do not care about politics , they are here . I speak to them , nobody is talking about the things MSMBC told you they care about"
What an obnoxious post filled with lies. I could post a lot of links but I’m not doing your homework for you. I suggest you google “foreign tourists avoid NYC” and you will see all the many news stories about this."
Ok you can keep the articles - I’m working in the industry 6 days a week - I speak to them- nobody cares about what Trump said about Canada or France or whatever - when my show collapses because Trump scaredaway tourists - I’ll be glad to say I was wrong - but until then - you can live in your bubble of conservatives, MAGA, liberals, progressives- when in the real world - most people do not care - unless there is an economic collapse - they will be here and seeing shows , the average person does not breathe WaPo articles , Fox News , NPR etc - still waiting to meet a tourist who cares about Trump lol - try meeting actual humans instead of soaking in doom and gloom media - again I work at. a tourist heavy show - 60% of the audience are foreign- you don’t want to accept it, because some article from The Guardian or The Times told you it’sdoomsday- everyone is boycotting the dumb Orange man and the states , it’s not happening yet- would you be happier if it was ? You want us out of work to satisfy your political obsession ?"
Hun, you can keep saying the same thing over and over but repetition does not make it true. NYC tourism from international locations is wayyyy down. I guess I do have to do your homework for you after all. It’s okay to be wrong. Just admit it (or don’t) and move on. The doubling down of inaccurate info is not helpful.
https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/07/travel/new-york-city-tourism-down-trump

https://www.timeout.com/newyork/news/nyc-will-see-a-17-percent-drop-in-international-tourists-due-to-potus-policies-051225
Again articles making predictions which are not panning out yet- panic media not seeped in reality - get back when you work 19 years solid in a Broadway house - you can cling to the articles - strange Broadway box office is actually up - so repeat after me - doomsday articles are not panning out - notice the key word in every article - predict- predict, do you understand? I predicted the Knicks would win the championship, please don’t come out me with “ predictions” my reading level is quite high - predictions vs reality - the predictions are not happening yet - I’ll let you know when everyone boycotts America over the dumb president - when the actual numbers are released we shall see if the predictions happened- where I work it’s robust business of foreign tourists""
Does it hurt to be so ignorant?

Exactly. It's not even a scene, it's basically just a transition tying "Wicked Witch of the East" to the scene where Elphaba confronts the Wizard.
