Per CBS' website, it states that this year (for the very first time) the Tony Awards will be broadcast in 16:9 HD (yes...widescreen high-definition!).
Here's hoping that this mention isn't an error and that they indeed broadcast the show, finally in HD. The Oscars and The Grammy's (and even the MTV VMA Awards) have been broadcast in 16:9 HD for years, so it's about f**kin' time!
NOTE: of course, you need to own a widescreen HD TV to watch the telecast in it's full widescreen high-definition glory. Regular TV set owners will see the regular full-screen non-high-definition telecast.
I'll be watching from a hotel in Oklahoma City, but I'll definitely set this to record on my DVR for the Widescreen HD at home.
OMG YOU GUSY!
HD!!!

What the heck is HD?! Does it allow you to view the seven Tony Awards that are left off of the telecast? If so, sign me up!

No, it is just better quality.
HD/HD TV:
HD has at least twice the linear resolution of standard-definition television (SDTV), thus allowing much more detail to be shown compared with analog television or regular DVD. In addition, the technical standards for broadcasting HDTV are also able to handle 16:9 aspect ratio pictures without using letterboxing or anamorphic stretching, thus further increasing the effective resolution for such content.
Well its about damn time.
