As much as I agree with your sentiments about Mermaid and Frankenstein, I'm wondering why you think they won't be nominanted. There arn't THAT many new musicals out...

Because you have potentially:

Xanadu (got much better reviews than Mermaid and YF)
Passing Strange (I think it's special event, the producers think otherwise)
Cry-Baby (known entity in film, don't know how the show will be yet)
A Catered Affair (still have yet to see)
In the Heights (Will be nominated and is an early fave to win)
then...
Mermaid
and YF
that's why I don't think they'll be nominated (I like Mermaid by the way)

"A birdcage I plan to hang. I'll get to that someday. A birdcage for a bird who flew away...Around the world." "Life is a cabaret old chum, only a cabaret old chum, and I love a cabaret!"-RIP Natasha Richardson-I was honored to have witnessed her performance as Sally Bowles.

I thought they changed the format this year and are not just showcasing production numbers from nominated shows. I remember reading that somewhere.

The only review of a show that matters is your own.

that may be so, but they'll still showcase a number from all the nominated shows.

I remember hearing somewhere too that they were going to do more for the nominated plays than a 30 seconds clip.
