Okay, lets be honest, when was the last time they nominated a closed show for Best Musical when there wasn't another one still open? A VERY LONG WHILE...
Personally I do believe they should have 5 nominations, giving one spot to a closed show that had merit (aka, Scottsboro Boys or BBAJ). As of right now the category looks like this:
Book of Mormon, Catch Me If You Can (Definates)
Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, Sister Act, People in the Picture (Strong Possibilities)
Baby It's You, Scottsboro Boys, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Wild Cards)
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Wonderland (When Hell Freezes Over)
What I wish the category looked like:
The Book of Mormon
Catch Me If You Can
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson
The Scottsboro Boys
What it probably will:
The Book of Mormon
Catch Me If You Can
Sister Act
Priscilla: Queen of the Desert

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson was the worst piece of crap show I've ever seen...I mean it was beyond terrible. Bad, no REALLY BAD music, horrible acting, a crowded set...My God, it was so horrible. Im so happy that garbage isnt around anymore.....

I think the real wildcard is the People in the Picture - just because there's been so little known about that show.
I agree that Catch Me and Book of Mormon are definites. I have a strong suspicion anything without an original score is going to have a hard time getting a nod for best musical this year. Also, like several posters upthread, I think the voters are sick of jukebox musicals as well so a good jukebox musical will probably only get nominated if a lot of the original score shows suck. (Ie, if everything else turns out to be floptastic as Wonderland looks like it's going to be)
The only closed show that might get a nod would be The Scottsboro Boys but if The People in the Picture opens strong, I don't even see that happening. I think Sister Act is very likely, not a "lock" like BOM and CMIYC are but still very possible.
The fourth spot depends entirely on The People in the Picture - if it's good, that'll be the fourth nominee. If it's bad/a disaster that'll open the door for either The Scottsboro Boys or Priscilla.
While I personally LOVED BBAJ, the only nomination I could see that show getting is Benjamin Walker being nominated and considering how long the show has been closed and all the buzz of the current/new shows, I don't even see that happening.

massofmen, I think your logic is self-defeating. You say BOM can't win because it won't tour well, but your examples of other shows that didn't tour well both won.
Book of Mormon
Catch Me If You Can
Sister Act
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson
(I think that Priscilla & Scottsboro could be wildcards)
people in the picture & baby its you could be phenomenal and totally sweep, but for now my vote is going to the Book of Mormon.
i personally think that Best Revival is gonna be SO INTENSE.
neck & neck between
Anything Goes
How to Suceed....
I want
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson
Book of Mormon
People in the Picture
Sister Act
I would really really love Wonderland to get a nomination....just to see what would happen.
