I second your opinion on Shaina Taub's music. I saw Twelfth Night last night and didn't realize they adapted it into a musical. I was like... wait wha? Mind you I prefer to watch shows without knowing anything about it. I had seen other productions of Twelfth Night in the past and this one is a hidden gem. What a great evening of theater! Better yet it's FREE!

Last night wasn't that bad but I really wished I had a paper fan at times when there was no breeze.

Twelfth Night is my favorite play by Shakespeare. I thoroughly enjoy various adaptations of the play. I've seen the production starting Derek Jacobi in the West End, a production of marionette puppets on table settings at La Mama, the all male production on Broadway from a few years ago, and this musical adaptation.

This production is excellent. It's fun, refreshing, entertaining, and highly enjoyable. Shaina Taub should be the next biggest name in musical theatre. Even Oscar Eustis wrote, in the Playbill, how those who see this will remember being there on the verge of her breakout. I agree.

I saw this last weekend and really enjoyed it; it's a whole lot of fun and the score is one of best in a long time. Sure, it's a watered down version of the plot but I've seen so many Twelfth Nights over the year that I appreciated it. The cast were all uniformly very good but I loved Andrew Kober and Shuler Hensley.

It was refreshing to have something short and fun at the Delacorte.

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

2018 Shakespeare in the Park

I was lucky enough to see this twice. Once in 2016 when it was Public Works and this year's version. Very interesting staging differences. I thought the Public Works version was more visually stunning, but I still loved it both times and can't complain that my seat was better this year, too. It's silly, funny, entertaining, and full of heart.

I couldn't tell if the ASL incorporation was expanded this year as it seemed very present throughout the show, as I was much too far to actually notice or appreciate any ASL on stage.
