I just did this for Straight. You show up 20 minutes before the showtime you want to see, and bring cash. Some theaters accept cards, but others do not so best come prepared. One important thing I forgot was that this is one ticket per person so if you want to get two tickets, both people must be there. For some shows you may want to get there earlier than others. I had no problem getting a ticket to Straight at 6:45pm on a Monday night for their 7pm show.

I did it for the Woodsman last night. Line was shared for all three shows. When I got there at 7.30 I was maybe 25 in line, but had to go take out cash as it's cash only. By the time I came back around 7.38 there were at least 10 more people in line. As far as I'm aware everyone got tickets for all three shows. I'd recommend showing up a few minutes early though just to be sure. Thursday matinee might be more popular as there are a lot fewer options in shows to go to

My mom and I were got $20 Avenue Q tickets in September. We got there a little after 7 and were first in line. If I remember correctly, other people didn't start showing up until around 7:20-something, and the line was long by the time the doors opened. But that was a Saturday evening, and I doubt the line will be that long on a Thursday afternoon.
