"3 Broadway Divas" in Rochester

Hi,
This weekend the Rochester Philharmonic is hosting a pops concert with "Three Broadway Divas"--Debbie Gravitte, Jan Horvath and Anne Runolfsson. I was just wondering if this is a show these three women have done in other areas of the country? Have any of you seen it? If not, can you tell me something about them? Should I go? The press says they'll be performing songs from Evita, Gypsy, Wicked, West Side Story, Mama Mia and A Chorus Line.
I have heard of Debbie Gravitte (I think I saw her years ago in Jerome Robbins's Broadway) but I'm not familiar with the other two.
Thanks!

I would say BUY A TICKET!

I've only seen Deb and Anne before, but they were terrific!

I've seen Jan Horvath and Anne Runolfsson in various other similar concerts and they're both GREAT. Go!

Anne Runolfsson is fabulous! Her solo CD At Sea is a favorite of mine.

Personaly, I don't like Jan Horvath in this concert. Although Debbie Gravitte is my favorite musical actress, her two solos did not come off very well (Defying Gravity and Don't Rain on My Parade). Still, it should be fun.

i saw a similar concert in Chicago a few years ago... i liked Debbie's performance, but i wasn't too keen on her "Defying Gravity"... it's a pretty bad arrangement (hopefully she's changed it). i did hear she's very nice, though.
enjoy the show!

I heard Debbie's "Defying Gravity" at a benefit concert last year and I was not impressed. She kept pronouncing the word as graviddy.

Debbie is VERY nice--too bad she's stuck in Rochester! Is it playing at the old high school auditorium?

"Stuck in Rochester"?????? There is theater and great audiences outside of NYC. I suppose you'd say the xame about Buffalo.

Honey--I played Rochester for a week last year...

My comment had nothing to do with the quality of the audience but rather of the venue.

Thanks, everyone. I did buy a ticket--I'm going tomorrow night. It's playing at the Eastman Theater, not the Auditorium Theater, so I think that will be better. I haven't been to the Auditorium yet (we just moved here over the summer), but I do hear it's very barn-like. The Eastman is a beautiful old theater and the "divas" are performing with the Rochester Philharmonic. They also had a performance tonight, but I figured I'd give them a day to work out any problems re: '3 Broadway Divas' in Rochester

anne is amazing!!!!
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
