The show was amazing! (again). Jim got thunderous applause during "The Song of inadequacy of Human Striving" and he stepped out of character to let us applaud longer and then he cut us off!! Brian was incredible!! However, I didn't get to meet him after. Either I totally missed him or I was too preoccupied in Nellie's camera fun (more on that after). Where were you BCR??
So anyway, Ana came out at the stage door first and was signing things and then she came over to my side. I said hi and she says "I got your picture"... woah!! I'm still in shock that she recognized me!! It was insane!! I asked her about any plans for Wicked but she said they haven't talked about it.
Nellie came out with a camera and was taking mad pics. I wanted to take a pic with her and she said "Let me take one of you first!" so she was taking pics of EVERYONE and making them say weird "inside joke" things that she was making up. Then, randomly, she's like "Let's hear it for the band!" and we all started clapping... Nellie = has waay too much fun with a camera. She was all over Jim, too!! It was hilarious!! I have a picture of themm hugging. I think it's setting in that it is closing.
Alan signed my copy of Tommy's Tale and wasn't too talkative (well, compared to the other 2 times). Cyndi was being so cute. I said Happy Birthday and she was talking in such a quiet voice. It was weird, but she was still very nice.
That's pretty much it, but I'm upset that i didn't get to meet Brian!!
Thanx for caring!
It makes me sad when people write more about the stage door than they do about the show.
And it makes me even sadder when there's a post "reviewing" the stage door.
Well, i figure there have been so many reviews of the show, that there isn't much to say anymore. The stage door is full of surprises at every show. I just felt like sharing.
I would love ot hear more about the show.
I'm glad the stagedoor was fun, though.
I wanted to meet Cyndi, but after waiting for 50 minutes i decided to go have dinner. I am also sad I didn't get to meet Brian Charles Rooney. But I have a feeling we will see him in many shows in the future, he is a delight.
What the hell?
You reviewed the stage door.
YOU REVIEWED THE STAGE DOOR.
Nothing too monumental happened during the show. There seemed to be static with the mics at the beginning and I just prayed that nothing was wrong. Nellie was hysterical as usual. The main 5, plus Brian, got entrance applauses! I don't know how long this has been going on, but Ana seemed to change the end of "Power of sex" so she doesn't have to sing as low. It sounded really good. Brian was just spectacular and hilarious and I'm still amazed at his voice!!
And yes LizzieCurry, I reviewed the stage door. If you have a problem, don't read it.

Cyndi has to save her voice!
Nellie is probably the quirkiest person around - and that's a good thing! She is quite the commedienne and I hope she sticks around on B'way.
Did Nellie (or does Nellie still) talk through PIRATE JENNY?
Her "NO SONG" is, however, fantastic!
If you have a problem, don't read it.
I didn't.
yeah, nellie pretty much talk-sang through Pirate Jenny. I just find that song too long to keep focused on and I end up tuning out. Until the end. But yeah I agree that The No Song really is great! And she's so cute when she nods her head really fast!!
hey Freckles
I was outside the stage door while Alan was signing and he even made a point of telling the crowd on the right side who I was (I was in my glasses and a hat). See what I mean?? I was there for a while, and people had no idea LOL -- even some of the people Alan told were like, "Huh??" They STILL didn't get it.
It is a little frustrating That's supposed to be the fun part. One guy got the courage up to come over and ask me to sign while i went to the side to talk to two friends of mine who were there.
Lincoln Center taped tonight! I think it was nearly perfect except for a tiny sound glitch in the first song...

....I tune out during my humps....doesn't everyone?
Haha, well maybe they wouldn't if Weill wrote it, what was his political stance on lovely lady lumps?
In Freckles's defense, this isn't really a "review" of the stage door, but more just a summary of what happened at the stage door. Freckles's summary is no different than what countless other people have written about their stage door experiences. Now if she had written more of a critical analysis with comments like, "while Brian Charles Rooney's autograph clarity is excellent, the pen that he used had an inconsistent drawing line and I also think he could have been more thoughtful about the placement of the autograph on the page" or "the view and pacing of the actors leaving the stage door worked well for the left barricade, less so for the right one," then I would agree that would be a little disturbing.
"Lincoln Center taped tonight! "
Ah! I think that's wonderful and I hop that means what I think it means! lol
Do you think it means it'll be stashed in the lincoln center archives?
..'Cause then it does!
Mikem, thanks for the support!! I knew someone would understand!!
BCR - Are you serious that Alan told people?? I was on the left side all the way at the front of the barricade, closest to the street. Alan was with us for a while and that was probably why I didn't see you. I was watching out for you the whole time! But he never said anything to us Well, I'll just have to meet you at whatever your next production of anything will be and bring my 3penny playbill!!

How can you tune out during MY HUMPS? It's such a piercing song that is now stuck in my head.
I guess I know what I'll be singing at work today.
BluCat, you read my mind :)
omg im so glad you had a great time!! =]
Wow, mikem, I was being facecious. I know it's not a review like you would review a show; it's very clearly a "summary." I was making fun of the choice of semantics.
It completely negates any point in using such tactics when you have to spell every single thing out for people on this board.
luvtheEmcee, not sure where you're coming from or what you're referring to. There was another poster in the thread who seemed displeased with the concept of a "stage door review" and who admitted to not having read Freckles's entire introductory post -- that person would not have known that Freckles's post was not a true review unless I or someone else mentioned it.
That being said, a bona fide stage door review (accurately representing what happened, but tongue-in-cheek) has enormous potential to be truly hilarious.
I was commenting on the fact that this "summary" was called a "review." I do think it's a bit... odd, to say the least to make a post that's more about the stage door than it is about the performance, but my comment was much more to the fact that the original poster went out and called it a "review." You don't review a stage door, for God's sake! I'm not saying I thought she was writing a *real* review of the stage door, with blocking and "direction" or whatever -- that's impossibly stupid. I was commenting on the fact that she called it a review; it amused me, in a sad sort of way.
Point is, that when you have to explain your comments in such analytical depth, it's not even worth making them anymore. Perils of the internet.

I can't believe I just read a review of a STAGE DOOR.
