Just back from NYC where I had a marathon of shows....
Saw Xanadu which was unbelievable - walked out and met Mary Testa, Jackie Hoffman and the delightful Kerry Butler who was SUPER NICE, Cheyenne Jackson was a dreamboat both in the show and in person - Unbelievably Brilliant Show. Andre Ward is outrageous and the quick banter and sharp lines made me want to see it twice - so I did!!
Next up was A Chorus Line. I grew up listening to the soundtrack. Was disappointed Deeidre wasn't on as Sheila and I've found Charlotte D'Amboise whiny on the new recording but the guy who played Paul was AMAZING!! I was crying!! And Diana and Valerie really worked it well. A true dream come true to see it.
Next night was Wicked - ok show but having seen it in London a few times, I wasn't mega impressed. Annaleigh Ashford was good and Carol Shelley but Stephanie Block just didn't do it for me the way Idina did in London.
Finally Young Frankenstein which I know has naysayers but they've certainly put the money into this show. Disappointed that Megan Mullally wasn't in it too much. We met her afterwards and she was nice enough but Roger Bart was FABULOUS!! Very nice guy when we stalked the stage door haha! He spent loads of time chatting and he carried the show well - quite an unassuming guy. Sutton Foster was an absolute dream as Inga and Andrew Grant stole the show for me.
Overall though - Xanadu wins, I can't resist the in-jokes, the adlibs, the tight shorts of Cheyenne Jackson...... The list goes on!!!!!!!
I'm sorry ot hear that you didn't like Deidre as Sheila. She's such a nice person. But in my opinion she's almost too bitchy as Sheila so when she finds out that she doesn't get the job you dont feel bad for her. But i love her!
And Natalie Cortez and Jessica Goldyn are amazing. They are my favorites. I went backstage with Natalie and it was surreal. I love them both. They are great!!
Im glad you still enjoyed A Chorus Line, it will always hold a special part in my heart =D

Glad you had a great time! Xanadu is so fun! That's really neat you got to talk to Roger Bart also. Whenever I saw the show, he didn't come out of the stage door. Thanks for your reviews!
"Everytime you step on that stage it is somebody's first Broadway show and somebody's last Broadway show. Make it count."
I'm still on a high from the shows to be honest!!! I want to book up and see Xanadu and Chorus Line again - they really got to me!!!! Played them on my iPod the rest of the holiday!
Deidre's sick. Saw the show on Tuesday, she went on like a trooper and did the show but you could tell that she was sick. She spoke sang some parts and by the end of the show she had nothing left. Still she was brilliant in the show, dance the hell out of it and her acting was great. Saw her after the show and she was very gracious, signing for everyone. She had said that she was sick, having trouble with her throat and stomach.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...
