70, Girls 70. Which version?

Encores are doing 70, Girls 70 next year as part of their season. Does anyone know if they are doing the original version with a cast of twenty plus, or the London revised version of the 1990's which had a cast of twelve. Anyone?

Not sure, but I hope they leave the ELEPHANT SONG in! I miss it when its gone!

They generally like to use some semblance of the original materials, whenever they are available. Certainly, Don Walker's Broadway orchestrations are preferable to the scaled back London arrangements.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

I hope so...

"You and I, Love" has aged considerably, but I do prefer the Broadway score (though "Well Laid Plan" and "I Can't Do That Anymore" are both nice additions). The Broadway score also has a terrific sung Entr'acte that I'd love to hear.

Cast of twelve or twenty, I wonder. While I like the Elephant Song, I can't help thinking it was Mildred Natwick's delivery that made it.

"I Can't Do That Anymore" was actually written for Frank Sinatra's "Old Blue Eyes is Back" TV special in the early 1970's. It was performed by Sinatra and Gene Kelly.

I like the new script (we did it at our theatre), but The Elephant Song should be put back in.
