John Herrera has passed away Feb 26 2026, 07:01:57 AM
That is sad news. So talented. Seeing this brought back a memory of seeing him as Neville Landless in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. When the actors are campaigning to be chosen as the murderer, he was in our section. "Vote for me! I did it!" he said, as he stormed in. My friend who was with me told him we were voting for Jana Schneider's Helena Landless, his character's sister. Without missing a beat, he petulantly responded back, "But she alway

LITTLE BEAR RIDGE ROAD Previews Dec 12 2025, 12:28:44 PM
If it's their money, what do you care? Why shouldn't they stand behind their play, the most acclaimed new play of the season, and give it every chance in the world to find an audience? Why slam them for 'ego,' rather than devotion and commitment?

Why don’t Off Bway shows report their weekly grosses? Dec 11 2025, 03:13:38 PM
Except that Heathers is, and has been, making money since it started performances in June. It had the highest advance sales in New World history, and broke the house record multiple times.

OFFICIAL: Lane/Metcalf DEATH OF A SALESMAN to open at Winter Garden, March 2026 Dec 1 2025, 12:49:14 PM
Falsettolands said: "Metcalf will undoubtedly receive two nominations this season. Has anyone ever been nominated twice in the same season in the SAME acting category? (Yes, I know others have been nominated twice in the same season in DIFFERENT categories)"
No one has been nominated twice in the same acting category, only leading and featured. Metcalf will probably be leading for Little Bear Ridge Road, and based on precedent, may be featured for Death of a Sal

All three leads, the lighting design, and revival of a musical seems like a solid expectation for 2026."
Depending on howCatsandThe Rocky Horror Showare both received in the spring, I wouldn’t be surprised to see

Phantom Tour Cast Nov 16 2025, 12:17:43 PM
To be even more clear: the chandelier does not start from the stage and does not hit the stage in this tour version. It rises and drops over the audience. In all other ways, the current North American tour is a facsimile of the West End production.

Phantom Tour Cast Nov 15 2025, 12:54:23 PM
The chandelier drops straight down at the end of Act 1 in the current tour in Baltimore. Not sure what that critic is going on about. It's quite like the chandelier drop in the original silent movie - without actually hitting the seats of course. It drops quite low and stays down during intermission before it rises again during the Entr'acte for Act 2 as the opera's "new" chandelier. It works very well, and the rest of the production looks and sounds great. It's

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/9/25 Nov 11 2025, 03:29:24 PM
The Shubert Organization appears to be reporting the full house attendance figure of 1061 seats, rather than the 760 seats that have actually been on sale for the present weeks, with the balcony off sale. So for last week's figures, it should be 4615 theatergoers filling 6088 possible seats for an actual capacity figure of around 76%.

Phantom Tour Cast Nov 10 2025, 02:10:14 PM
Lot666 said: "Phantour said: "Isaiah Bailey, acting wise, I feel is still settling into the role and I'm curious to see if I will notice any changes when I return this weekend. If you enjoy a baritone/baritenor Phantom, then you're in for a treat."
I love a Phantom with a deep, resonant voice, but it's been my experience that most of them struggle noticeably with the sustained high notes in "Music of the Night" (i.e., "...spirit start to SOAR"and "...where you long to BE"). How did he do with those?"
You can hear him sing the whole song here, from their press event last month. He sustains those notes beautifully.

HEATHERS and Understudies Oct 23 2025, 06:44:17 AM
>the replacement cast is feeling pretty uninspired so far.<
Only one permanent replacement has been named -- Kuhoo Verma as Veronica, and she's an extraordinary talent. She was a standout in Dave Malloy's Octet, for which she won a Lortel Award, and she was brilliantly funny in the film Plan B. Great voice as well, including a full coloratura, though she doesn't need it for Heathers. But having a well-trained singer served them wel

Why Has Gypsy Never Been a Big Hit? Jul 6 2025, 08:06:22 PM
I can't remember where he said it, but Sondheim once referred to Gypsy as a show about how your parents destroy your life and then you get to take care of them. That's probably a good enough reason why the show has never had the mass appeal of some of the other musicals of its era.
