mlsheehan--
Thanks for posting your reviews. I already have tickets for "Spring Awakening" and "Grey Gardens" for the first week of April. Your reviews are making me re-think getting tickets for "Company." I am still considering "A Chorus Line." Maybe I will like the revival more since I've only seen the show twice--both times in a local dinner theatre. Thanks so much for your well-written reviews.

Nick,
I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I would like to point out that it was Grey Garden's first act score that I dis-liked. I did indeed enjoyed much of the second act score, as I believe I mentioned.
Overall, I have to say that I enjoyed the PRODUCTION of Drowsy more than Grey Gardens.

sidney,
You might want to make the decision on the balance of the shows that you want to see until you get to NYC. We relied heavily on the TKTS booth. We were able to snag Company seats on the aisle in the 4th row TKTS.
Also, please don't let one opinion, mine, sway you. I always believe in looking at a survey of opinions before making a decision such as that.
I believe Company has been consistantly on TKTS. You might keep your eye on this site...

Great reviews! As for your uncomfortableness with the treatment of the gay subplot in Spring Awakening, I can definitely see where you're coming from. I don't think it was necessarily a trivialization of gay relationships themselves, but rather of a relationship that is decidedly one-sided. I sort of took it as a criticism of Melchior and Wendla's relationship, which has a similar, if less blatant, dynamic.
Also, I think you might have enjoyed it more if Jonathan Wright had been there, as he's definitely one of the highlights of the show in that role, milking (no pun intended) every drop of humor he can out of the role.

Posted: 3/11/07 at 6:22pmI'm going to agree with Scott68 about Mr.Wright. He is absolutely fabulous in that role and that scene. I think he is the best person in this show that is not one of the three leads.
