Re: THE FANTASTICKS at the Hayes -- Casting Speculation

Aug 25, 2026 — 9:41:38 PM

Not sure why everyone is so down on Zane Phillips. He has been fine in the TV stuff I’ve seen him in. Not seen him on stage, but seems like he’s typecast as a himbo (for obvious reasons). I hope he knocks it out of the park, and starts to get more challenging role offers.

Broadway's Best Kept Secrets - Passion + Paddington

Aug 22, 2026 — 10:11:51 PM

I can't imagine any producer putting on a commercial production of Passion without major reworking of the book. It's is a dreary, dismal, and somewhat revolting musical about a dying, ugly woman and her obsessive love for a handsome man that has some absolutely beautiful music. I saw the original production on Broadway and hated it. I could not wait for it to end. It was creepy and all the characters were unsympathetic with the exception of Clara (who really doesn't have much of a character a...

SIX: THE MUSICAL proshot with original West End Queens coming to the US

Aug 13, 2026 — 10:48:33 PM

One cinema in San Diego started showing this today, so we went. My husband and I had one other attendant in the audience today. The pro shot starts out with a mini documentary about the 6 original cast members from the London production reminiscing about some high points in the shows history with some film footage. This was fun, and it lasted about 10 minutes before the actual pro shot. I enjoyed this a lot. It could be longer. The actual pro shot is a pretty good capture of the show. This was ...

Re: NYT: ‘Hadestown’ Hits Movie Theaters, and Theater to Stream in July

Jul 24, 2026 — 10:44:40 PM

In the movie theater that I saw this in, it was treated just like a movie not a "proshot". Meaning, there were ads and previews before the actual start of the movie (one preview was for the proshot of SIX, the rest were regular movie previews).I loved this. It is an exemplary capture of the musical. I just saw this on Broadway last month on a trip to New York. I enjoyed the performance in New York very much, but found it hard to hear all the lyrics. This movie version was so clarifying, and h...

GIANT Seating/View Question

Jun 23, 2026 — 10:45:24 PM

We sat in front row mezzanine off center to the right, and they were fantastic seats. Clearly see faces and everything happening on stage.

Who's still out there from 2003?

Feb 8, 2025 — 10:29:36 PM

Been here a long time, and I mostly lurk (as you can tell from posting count). I do visit almost everyday and catch up with the news even though I'm on the West Coast.

King James - Taper

Jun 14, 2022 — 1:19:06 AM

I’ve sat all over the Taper and it’s true there aren’t any “bad” seats, but there are better cheap seats. Go for anything at least 5, or so, seats from either wall (especially in the front few rows). Anything away from these far sides is fine even the back rows of the theater are great. It’s a very nicely designed space. I sit back and toward center frequently and never had a complaint (and I’m a mid-orchestra kind of guy in a Broadway theatre).

CLYDE'S on Broadway Will Sell Limited, Real-Time Tickets to Virtual/Streamed Performances in January

Nov 22, 2021 — 7:02:33 PM

I was excited by this announcement, but $59 is a “no” for me. I have watched quite a few things on streaming since COVID and find it somewhat enjoyable. However, it really doesn’t compare to being personally in the theater. I know this is an experiment and I’m hoping there will be more of this, but for me the price point is too high. I’d do this if I were under 30 and qualified for the $30 tickets.

Bway League WILL Release Weekly Grosses

Oct 29, 2021 — 1:07:07 AM

It looks like the average ticket price (across all shows) is $125.88. I believe my calculation is correct (total gross/# of seats filled), but someone correct me if not.I'm truly surprised it's that high, with all the discussion of shows struggling and papering. I know that figure doesn't say anything about individual shows. And, I'm sure there are several shows still getting premium prices that offset the shows struggling to sell seats ...

DIANA: THE MUSICAL On Netflix - News & Discussion Thread

Oct 2, 2021 — 3:38:25 PM

@MarlothomThanks for confirming what I expected from the comments on this thread. I saw this at La Jolla and pretty much hated it. It’s just misguided mess of a show that really doesn’t seem to say anything that isn’t a cliche. Additionally, the characters as presented in the show do not really have much of the personalities of the real people they are meant to represent. I have Netflix but I’m not even sure if I could stomach hate watching it again. I’m still not sure why the producti

Mrs. Doubtfire is gonna get protested

Sep 20, 2021 — 12:17:11 PM

So tired of being told what I should get upset about and what I need to protest. OP your life is going to be really rough if you are going to get riled up about everything that you view as going against your views.

DRAMA BOOKSHOP opening June 10th, 2021

Jun 6, 2021 — 10:33:30 PM

How Lin-Manuel Miranda and Friends Made an Old Bookstore New from New York Times 6/6/21"The interior — 3,500 square feet on the main floor, plus a 3,000 square foot basement — is designed by David Korins, the “Hamilton” set designer. There’s an octagonal banquette inspired by a piece of furniture in the 1940 film “The Shop Around the Corner” and, for “Hamilton” fans, a pair of armchairs that are replicas of the one George Wa
