A Catered Affair last night

I'm really easy to impress when it comes to brodaway-I admit that willingly, I'm like a little child in a candy store the minute I enter a theater... but I was really not wowed by this performance, I mean good cast, a few good songs but I didn't find anything truly spectacular about it.. I almost feel bad saying it because I was so looking forward to it- but really, I feel like it's underdeveloped a little maybe. I'd still recommend people to see it - just if you have other shows you want to see, see them first. unless they're glory days or cry baby..


Last note, I wish Matt C. had had a bigger part because I thought the little part he did have was really good.

I saw yesterday's matinee and, overall, found the whole thing to be dreary, with what I felt was a non-existent score -- it was like background music, at most.

Having said that (I didn't care for the show, if anyone hasn't guessed), one performance was a knockout -- and I'm not talking Faith Prince or Harvey Fierstein. Tom Wopat was absolutely terrific -- singing and acting were topnotch and he almost made you care about this rather humdrum person. I've seen him before but he never had this impact on me. Now, if he could just find a better show to showcase his talents . . . .

Well, Bucchino intended for much of the music to work as scoring like on a film. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the score--I think it's beautiful.

Oh, I was convinced. I think to say that there are characters who are not "singing characters" implies that you believe that there can be characters/people in this world with absolutely no emotions.

I think quite the opposite is true of these characters.
