During Bride's Lament when when Janet sings "Is it the monkey or my pedistool?" and Man in Chair repeats "pedistool," Bob Saget was drinking his "liquor" when he was supposed to say it so he quickly spit it back in to the cup to say "Pedistool." I was wondering was that a mistake or if he always does that?
When I saw Saget during his first weekend, he didn't do this, but I've seen it three times since then, and he did it for all of those.
Between the two acts, did he do the thing where he watches his Power Bar slowly droop over, before pushing it back up into place? He did that the last two times I saw him, and my friends and I are still laughing about it. Definitely my favorite thing he added.
Awww, Bob. That Cry Baby quip make me grin - he's such a good sport.
I was fortunate enough to see the show twice when I was in New York a year ago, and since then two of my friends have both visited (we're in Australia) and I told them both to see Drowsy - and both did, and loved it. Sad to see it go so soon, but what fond memories :)

just wondering, when Bob Martin makes his cameo, is he in his Man in the Chair clothes, or his street clothes
"Between the two acts, did he do the thing where he watches his Power Bar slowly droop over, before pushing it back up into place?"
He did it during the final show but I don't remember him doing it when I last saw him. I'm going to guess he only does it if he can actually get the powerbar to droop.

He was dressed as the super (blue jumpsuit, brown boots) except he didn't have a hat on.
beautiful review. Thank you for that.

Bless you Drowsy, cast & crew!
I LOVE YOU DROWSY!!!!
Thanks for a wonderful review singingbackup!
Congratulations to the cast and crew of Drowsy for a successful run. But mostly thanks to the cast and crew for providing me with some of the most enjoyable theatre I have ever experienced. Anyone who didn't get to see Bob Martin as Man in Chair really missed something special. What a fabulous performance! I can't even feel "blue" anymore without thinking of the Man in Chair, then I smile.
Speaking of which; since this closing has left me feeling, "abit blue," I think I'll take a page from the Man in Chair and listen to my recording of The Drowsy Chaperone. "It's just fun!"

I'm suprised that noone mentioned how the swings performed in the final number of the show. Eight flight attendents came out in one single line, and I was trying to figure out who they all were. I guessed that the swings were there, though I was hoping that they were past cast members. Turns out they were swings, and I was curious why the man who plays the Super was playing a flight attendent. Then Bob came out. So funny. Great night.
Mike- Thanks for that Fab review..... I was soo p*ssed that I did not see it last night, but I was glad we talked on the phone...while youre getting the ticket and entering the Marquis..I felt like I have seen the show too..
and in honor of Drowsy.. I will listen to the OBCR this morning !!!

The super is the one that turn on the lights and made a reference joke about Miss Saigon....

I noticed there were more flight attendents and I was, also, thinking they were past cast members. I wasn't close enough to notice Joey as one of the flight attendents. Good catch on the swings...I didn't even think of that.
Sounds like such an amazing experience !! Thanks to everyone that posted !! You made me feel like I was there !
And totally agree... Let Martin write AND host the Tonys !
Thanks for adding the flight attendants, I had forgotten. Mara was the best I have seen her, and she even did a funny thing during Bride's Lament where she stuck her finger in her ear after the loud cymbal crashes...subtle but so cute.
I was in the Mezz and couldnt really see who the other 4 stewards were, hoping that maybe they were Sutton, Eddie, Edward and Lenny!
I did see Austin Miller enter the theater, no doubt in support of TBJ.
I thought Mara was great. She actually fell during Toledo Surprise. When I asked her at the stage door she said that she was twirling down the steps and basically fell at the bottom. I dont think many people noticed though because she was sort of in the back. She said that she is going to be in Dancing in the Dark, with Beth, at the Old Globe in San Diego and then back to NY, again with Beth, for No No Nanette.
Bob Martin's cameo was really great as well. I asked how his baby was doing and he said great and that he was supposed to be "wearing him" in a Baby Bjorn when he came out as the super but that the baby was sleeping so that plan got scrapped at the last minute.
Thank you to everyone who posted reviews of the last show. I am so sad that I couldn't make it. I still can't believe that Drowsy closed, it all happened so fast.
I have many great memories with this show too. It was the show that finally got to meet Sutton, my idol. It was the show that I not only laughed, but cried all the way through when I saw it because it was sooo funny. It was the first show that then actually made me cry in the end.
Just everything about this show was perfect, pure genis. Brilliant. Broadway lost a true gem last night. I believe the lights became a little dimmer.
((also, if someone has a video of the final show, can you please pm me? I would love you forever!!))
Goodbye Drowsy! You'll remain in my heart forever. <3

Also, it was kindda funny. There's that one part in the end where the man in the chair says that he should start the record from the begining because the moment was ruined. Usually met with a laugh, or a "No", last night everyone clapped and cheered and almost wanted him to play it again.
To add my two cents, it was a near perfect evening and closing to a show that I like to say is a true love letter to broadway and it's true fans. Bob Martin as the super was the icing on the cake to a beautifully touching show. Here's to you Drowsy!

I heard he was there but I didn't see him
One of the couple truely original shows recently on Broadway is now gone- and the other going very soon. I really wish I could have been there. Thank you so much for the review!
I think many wished he WOULD start the record over!
That's my understanding. Troy was at the finale of "Grease: You're The One That I Want"
yeah Troy was there, we were in the 'guest list' line together. He's quite handsome in real life too.
I might have seen him if I hadn't accidentally cut to the front of the "guest list" line. We thought the front was the end and the workers that were there didn't seem to be directing traffic well.
But because of this accident I got to be in the studio while they were rehearsing the finale number. So I got to see Ashley Spencer "win". That was neat.
It was a fun night for sure.
