Posted: 11/18/03 at 10:16pmI don't think the material lends itself to being a musical.

Hi,
I dunno about a Harry Potter musical. I just do not feel right of it being made into a musical. But I have heard that JK Rowling has already given permission to some ballet company to change it into a ballet show instead! How ridiculous can u get! A ballet show of HP! haha!
My NINE the musical group!

Bad idea.
Too much scenery and too little reason to stage it.
Same stories are told better on film, video, printed page, all of which are cheaper than $100 a pop.
Why bother?
Throw the Legally Blonde idea onto the same trash heap.

Wicked gives me a "Harry Potter" feel when they are at college- any one else get that vibe?

Posted: 11/20/03 at 10:29pmA Lord of the Rings musical? Ye gods. That idea should be cast back into the fiery pit of Mount Doom whence it came.

It will happen someday. Harry Potter is quickly taking over the world.

Posted: 11/20/03 at 10:58pmI dont know about that. I mean I am the hugest Harry Potter fan but Im not sure if it could work. But hey I'm just a 13 year old midwestern dancer and not some big writer person, what do I know? :)

Posted: 11/21/03 at 12:15amAgreed, Elphie. I do get a "Wicked" vibe, and if done similarly, it could be amazing. And I actually like the "Legally Blonde" idea as well. Shows like this could really bring audiences to Broadway, and could actually turn out being great shows that really give you your money's worth. Harry Potter would most likely have great special effects and lighting and costumes, and would be one big spectacle. As opposed to Rent, let's say- which is an AMAZING show. But no one in their right mind should pay $100 to see that.
