I can't imagine a less appealing-looking show. On my must-avoid list:
From Playbill:
"Under the Bridge," Kathie Lee Giffford and David Pomeranz's new family-friendly musical based on the award-winning book, "The Family Under the Bridge," will get an Off-Broadway staging directed by Eric Schaeffer at The Zipper Theatre starting late this year.
"Under the Bridge" has been heard in developmental readings that featured Ed Dixon as the gruff but lovable French hobo, Armand, who becomes caretaker to homeless siblings in December 1953 Paris. The book by Natalie Savage Carlson won the Newbery Honor and has been a favorite children's story since it first appeared in the 1950s (HarperCollins published it in 195.
Lambchop Productions will shepherd the production, which has book and lyrics by actress-singer-writer Kathie Lee Gifford and music by pop and theatre composer David Pomeranz ("Tryin' to Get the Feeling Again," "The Old Songs").

Geez! I am sorry but I still think she has been totally run over the coals with everyone. I mean come on.....
Giver her a break. The show could be good.
And I still like her cover of the David Freidman song
"Make Your Own Music"
So sue me.
excuse me while I vomit.
I'm with Margo on this. Yuck.
I hear when it is staged Off-Broadway Regis will play Armand (tee-hee.)
A family show at the Zipper? Ok it really is only about a half block of sketchy... But Kathy Lee is not on my list of people to see.

I'll never know. It could be the greatest musical since West Side Story and I'll never know because as soon as I saw the description "gruff but lovable French hobo, Armand" I broke out into a cold sweat and began screaming uncontrollably. It sounds like a REALLY LONG night for those folks who decide to sit through it.
So is Kathy going to be in it? What about Cassidy and Cody as the cute widdle kiddies?
And I've always thought that the director, Eric Schaeffer, is way overrated. He something of a "critics darling" in the Washington, D.C. area. I still can't figure why.

creepy.
so.. what cambodian sweat shop will the costumes be made in?
It's like the Apple Dumpling Gang with out the genius of Don Knotts.
I'd rather be kicked in the face by a mule.

Let's never forget that Kathie Lee was a vocal supporter of Anita Bryant(a vicious anti-Gay activist). Kathie Lee is popping up again to promote a play. She has never expressed any regrets about her days as Anita Bryant's supporter. In fact, she is still a friend of hers!.. I would not give a penny to any project she might make money with.

Actually it seems quite promising, at least taking into account the little tweek I've heard about. It's not about three billygoats, anymore, but a small group of Cambodian children (BG2, you weren't far off) who make the most beautiful clothing for the generous and caring queen of their land, Catherine (the "C" making not at all reminiscent of any co-creator), who ends up keeping the happy children out of sight from the evil Ogre, named Morals, who hails from the icky land of Childe Labour Laus.
It seems very interesting
There might be a better venue for Miss Gifford:
Everyone sing - "If they could see me now...out on a Fun Ship cruise...."
I for one, love Kathy Me, I mean Kathy Lee.
How I miss her every morning on television with Regis.
If you believe any of this, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you...

I sincerely hope the show closes before it opens I hate Kathie Lee. YUCK! excuse me while I puke.
I can't believe anyone would pay good money to see this! It sounds like something that was brought to my elementary school. One of those "do good in school, be a nice person" pieces. The same thing that I would role my eyes at and then proceed to talk to my friends through. Not even kids buy into that crap anymore.
I wonder what ever happened to the Aimee Semple McPherson musical Kathie Lee was writing to star Christine Ebersole.
I must say, I love the idea of Christine in a musical about McPherson as long as Kathie Lee has nothing to do with it.

Wow! And here I thought the world of vicious queens went out the window.
I may not some of the things she has done but I don't HATE her. And I think unless she personally did something to you then why hate her? I mean did she do something PERSONALLY to you? If she did then by all means, go for it.
Just think.. what if this was your mother?
It was Bette Davis' dream to play Aimee Semple McPherson.

Some people dont get it...Anita Bryant and Kathie Lee ruined thousands of gay people's lives in FL and around the country during the late 1970s and early 1980s. To this day. Kathie Lee continues her friendship with Bryant who is in Branson, MI. Kathie Lee never expressed any remorse about her vicious anti-gay crusade. People lost jobs as teachers in FL due to Bryant's campaign called: Save The Children. Some gay people took their lives under the stress of the daily attacks which were nationally broadcasted. Kathie Lee was an avid Bryant supporter and still a Bryant friend. For the record, in those days she was Kathie Lee Johnson, last name was from a former husband. Updated On: 10/7/04 at 07:13 PM
I find this very sad....Didn't Miss Gifford realize that her own children could have been gay....or even her Grand children.....I never understand how people can do this...What goes around, come around.....
...or even her husband! :)
She & Frank Wildhorn should get together for a drink. He can tell her how to hang in there when no matter what you do, before you even do it, you will be criticized & hated. I have to admit the subject of either show does not do it for me but she deserves a chance. If you had put so much sweat & tears into a project, how would you feel if it was trashed before it was even put on ?
