Hey guys, i saw A LITTLE PRINCESS on one of the previews. It was in my opinion better than LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, AVENUE Q, PRODUCERS, and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST !
~~~~sara crew-Mackenzie Mauzy is FABULOUS, i was incredibly impressed but i couldnt say she stole the show, her voice was amazing. Her belt ranges went up to what id say an F BELTING! she was awesome, her acting i was pretty impressed with although she had a lack of facial expressions. she's done a lot of tv. the camera isnt 1 foot from your face on stage it is MUCH different i guess. Like an article i read said..."she didnt even flinch when she found out her dad supposedly died" her voice is great, pretty impressed with her acting. The dancing on her part was minimal, she barely danced but it was good what she did. "Live Out Loud" and "soldier" were splendid!
~Captain crew-will chase was good, he wasnt that believable that he loved sara, the relationship between mauzy and chase was iffy but his voice was good...thats all i have to say about him
Becky-Remy zaken...Ive got one word...mediocre She was not a becky, her voice was not super. Acting was not that believable. A LITTLE PRINCESS should go to braodway in my opinion. It seemed like she was like "now i am going to sing ok, now i am going to stop singing and say my lines" she was for sure not the best in my opinion. Maybe the role will develop for her but she seemed a little lost in the preview, im sure she is excellent other wise...
~~~~~~~~~Miss Minchin- Kimberly King was likable as miss minchin. She sand well and acted like any mean head mistress would. She was pretty good.
~~~~~~~Miss Amelia-Molly Bell was great she had some funny lines but they happned to be drowned out, the song always happend to come in w/o giving the audience time to laugh on all her hilarious lines...oh well...good job molly
Pasko- casey ford alexander was likeable in "captain crew" but not "sweet" enough if you will, i imagined pasko to be a little boy but i am probably wrong. I am not the writer, let alone talked to him! they tried to make him youthful with costumes but he obviously wasn't. He should have sung sweeter in my opinion. he strained trying belt in captain crew and the sweetness was lost. he was talented though, very very very talented.
~~~~~~~Aljana-C KElly Wright was awesome and just how i pictured aljana.
I know that is a pretty hard write up but i am jut hard to please. i loved it and the music by andrew lippa is AWESOME, script by brian crawley are acceptable, not bad at all.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME, if youve seen ALP or not please reply
if you havent seen it GO SEE IT ASAP! It is sooo good, i am very nit-picky so dont mind my rambling. SEE IT 10 out of 10!!

Well..your review is certainly better than the horrible, bad one I've already read.
However, you seemed to have several problems with the actors. How could it be the bestest musical with all the probs you pointed out?
I certanly am looking forward to seeing this. The 1995 film directed by Alfonso Cuaron (Great Expectations, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Harry Potter 3) is probably the most beautiful film I've ever seen and it made me fall in love with the story. I will be there opening night for this one.

well i am picky but i have seen MANY shows and it was my favorite...it was just great to me. The colors and sets and costumes, she schoolgirls were great too...the only actors i was dissapointed with were becky and pasko, iloved sara crew mackenzie mauzy SO MUCH there were just some acting things i would agree with, just one bad review doesnt make it horrible, i reallllly loved it.
Can you tell me a little about the set design and colors used? Was there a common theme used?
Is there a demo cd or somewhere that I can listen to a few songs besides that one that Lippa did himself (awesome by the way)?

there was a lot of gold, a good sheet being pluued over someone and costume changed when they pull it back (mind you-a5 second costume change on stage!) timbuktu, a song is so vibrant, everyone is wearing some sort of gold and it is very african, there is a lot of stage gymnastics and serious dancing, the african dancing is a bit leik lion king.
I actually figured as much. This is the one show out there now I think I'm more excited about than anything else. Is this coming to NYC?

well i live in the bay area by san francisco but ive been to ny duh!! anyway, its premeiring with theatreworks but TW is a pro company (17 out of the 24 cast members are equity and from nyc) its not assured a place on broadway but im sure it will be, id say 80% change of bway, there are some unpolished things but i saw it on preview and my friends in the cast said they had solos cut and new lines given THAT DAY! its in the process but id bet it does go to bway in the next 1-3 years
I don't know if that belittling "Duh" was really neccessary.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, as do many of my theatre friends, and most of us have not been to New York. One who has was there during the Broadway strike.
oh my gosh i really loved that movie. Wasnt it directed by the same guy that did harry potter? that is going to be a good show.

This girl Remy Zaken has done alot of big theater. She can't be all that bad...unless of course she's got an in somehow.

ok i cant say duh, but i went to ny when they were about to go on strike, they "about" to go on strike for a long time and many times but this was the most serious since 1960. hehe ok, remy zaken id is good but justdefinetly not a becky, i take back what i posted before, i was unhappy with her performance in ALP but im sure she is wonderful other wise, maybe it was that her part was kind of boring for her to play...thats probably it, im just warning you/reviewing it and that is my opinion. Still see it, that didnt even ruin my experience a bit! SEE IT! Updated On: 8/30/04 at 01:35 AM

I loved the show too - the music was wonderful. In fact, I want to go back and see it again. There is so much to see in the big numbers, especially with the amazing choreography. I thought everyone in the cast did a great job. The show was just beautiful. The sets were rather 3-D - quite creative.
By the way, Remy, who plays Becky, had her arm in a sling on Sunday. She hurt her arm during previews and worked through opening night severely injured. I think she has a beautiful voice, and is quite a trooper.
umm..with all the negative reviews coming out for this show, the only place it will be moving to will be your nearest community theater.
