I think TABOO was doomed in NY from the start. I'll probably not get to NY before the inevitable happens which saddens me, however is anyone surprised that a show with that sort of story content hasn't received enough popular acclaim to fill 8000+ seats a week? A lot of people would not be attracked by the story/era portrayed. And before anyone jumps down my throat and brings up RENT, it is an entirely different type of show/story. I still think it may have found it's audience in a larger Off Broadway house, and saved Ms O'Donnell a whole heap of money.

Phantom2 - Perhaps my reactiopn is similar to those who haven't seen the show, but only read the press on it. If more people knew it wasn't as harsh as the press buzz, then perhaps sales could pick up.

alterego - "And before anyone jumps down my throat and brings up RENT, it is an entirely different type of show/story."

Funny, that's the first thing I thought. What about the story specifically do you think puts people off? Rent has drug addicts, drag queens, sex and violence. Sweeney Todd has cannibalism and serial murder. Hair was about hippies, drugs, sex, and politics (in the middle of a rather conservative Broadway era). Tommy included drug use, incest and child molestation. Not to mention that the 80s is making a huge comeback. I really think the issue is that the public just isn't well-informed about the content of the show.

Where else can you see Asa Somers' pierced tongue? Very cool.

From LC:

"The show has not been marketed properly; put Euan out there, not Boy George"

If you didn't catch George and Euan on The Today Show, you can view this, and other Euan clips here:

Euan Morton video clips

Euan should make more appearances. And some of the others too, Cary, Liz, Sarah all have fantastic songs that should reassure people about the "weirdness" of the show. Rosie should be able to get her cast on more shows than Today. How about Letterman? He had Wicked..... Updated On: 1/13/04 at 04:10 PM
