I have been to Taboo twice. I would pay just to see Jeffrey Carlson perform the role of Marilyn. The cast is fabulous. They work very well together. I totally recommend experiencing Taboo. It's friggin' freaky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Liz McCartney has an amazing voice too! She really gets to show it off in this production.

I saw TABOO on Jan. 3, and I don't understand what all the negativity is about. It was an entertaining show with great music and some great performances. Yes, it had problems with its book and directing (as did the London production), but its positive aspects far outweigh its flaws. Yes, TABOO could have been a first rate musical if they had rewritten the book (or used the other version as was mentioned in an article on broadway.com I believe), but as it is now, I was entertained. What gorgeous voices these performers have!
I really enjoyed Taboo. It has great music, a great story, great talent. It defines musical theatre. After a while you get sick of the touristy shows like 42nd Street, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hairspray, and Mamma Mia. Please don't get me wrong, I enjoy those other shows, but shows like Taboo and Avenue Q are different and edgy and add a little spice to Broadway. ![]()

me likey a spicy taco!
Plus, you get to experience the "wild and crazy" life of Leigh Bowery. Simply fascinating!
I'd like to run into Asa Somers at Club Taboo!

Taboo has a very limited audience appeal. It has not played above 60% capacity and O'Donnell doesn't understand the concept of papering the house or giving away tickets to promote word of mouth. There is a tv commercial running in NYC, but it's too little too late.
Rosie thought her name and Boy George's could sell the show, but those names are not what people are lining up to see.
I hear they get standing ovations almost every night. There's a lot to be said for that. I cannot say enough about this talented cast. And no, Rosie is not my sister.

I was quite saddened to see that it was back down....I hope it doesn't close. Broadway should not lose this jewel.
c'mon people keep seeing it !!! stupid critics! i think if it got better reviews it would be just fine. grr ...sorry i am mad
I think people are scared to go. If you're into costumes and fashion I would definitely see Taboo. This girl I went with is now doing things with fringe on lamp shades. Can't wait to go out with her again!

For some reason the standing ovations reference is the only talking point the producers and brainwashed Rosie followers have when mentioning Taboo. These days on Broadway, actors taking a dump on stage get standing ovations. They mean nothing.
You did not just say that, unless you are referring to the hot scene in the men's room!
If Oprah produced this show, would she get this much "heat"? Leave Rosie alone. She is gay. We like her.

Yes she would any high profile person would. But she would be smart enough not to make outlandish statements like she is going to win the Tony for best musical.

"I think people are scared to go"
I have to say that I've been shocked at how easily scared the NY theatre going public have been when it comes to Taboo. What exactly do people think these characters are going to be doing on stage?
Good for her. She is the show's biggest cheerleader! Wouldn't you want to win if you were her? The cast and crew would be thrilled. I think everyone would be pissed if she publicly stated they wouldn't win. I get your point, I hope you also get mine.
LC- I think they are afraid the actors on the stage will piss into the audience.

People are voting with there feet by not going. Last week according to Playbill, Taboo $281,334 50.1% down 12%
Rosie can do what she wants; she has the money, but just not the sense.
But Phantom,
Pride goeth before the fall. A little humility goes a LOOOONG way.
Plus, I don't understand why we should support someone just because they're gay. I thought the show, though containing a very talented cast and a decent pop score, was amateurishly put together and made the startlingly fresh point that drugs are bad.
