I want to discuss this song a bit and get people thoughts on it.
I like the metaphor of homework for growing up but there might be more to it then that.
Anyway I really like the song and want to explore it more.

To me the song's meaning is blatantly obvious: No one knows everything. There's always something to learn about ourselves and other people. Get to know people before you judge, and always be true to yourself before others/'friends'.

best line of the song "I've been looking for the answers in the back of the book..."

That is my biggest problem with my life. Looking for the easy way out, not wanting to put the work in. I love this song.

Thanks for this thread.

Nearly a month has gone by....face it: no one here cares enough to respond.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I remember that they changed some of the lines the kids said during the song. Lucy's original line was something about her having an eating disorder, which was then altered. I believe someone else had a story that was not PC enough for audiences.

Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
