Yeah, that's good. It's too soon.
I guess Marc Platt opted for the movie musical.
Originally, WICKED was to be a straight movie. Then Stephen Schwartz came along and Platt agreed to make it a Broadway musical. Platt had always wanted still to do the novel as a straight movie and de-kiddiefy what the musical did to it. Perhaps he has since changed his mind?
I'm thinking in a couples years when tickets sales start to drop a little, it'll become more of a reality.
Get this "show" out of the Gershwin and put it on the silver screen so it can be over and done with.
This show won't be leaving the Gershwin for a long, long, long time.
I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever see a different show at the Gershwin in my lifetime.
Wicked ain't leavin' anytime soon. No matter how much you dislike it, it's still pulling in tons of money. I don't see why it should leave if it's attracting audiences, providing jobs, and pulling in money.
if there was a Wicked movie soon i would love to see uma thurman as elphaba and reese witherspoon as glinda
Oy, I don't think Uma could ever pull off Elphaba. And Reese would be cute, but I don't know if she has the head voice.
Stephen is being really smart in not rushing it. The show is consistently pulling in over 1 million a week, and that isn't slowing down anytime soon. When the sales start to diminish will be when they make it, I think.

I honestly don't think this will work on film. Maybe it's the way Joe Mantello directed it on Broadway, but I just can't see certain songs working as well. "Wizard and I" and "Popular" and "What Is This Feeling?" would work, but I'm not sure "Defying Gravity" or "No Good Deed" would work as well. It seems like it would just come off as uber cheesy.

Uma Thurman as Elphaba?
.

Didn't you see The Producers?
she might not have the best vocals but her acting would be superb and she has the look.. she can work on her singing and so can reese
She has the look? What look? She certainly doesn't look like a college student.
I love Uma Thurman and think she's gorgeous, but a potential Elphaba she is not.
Meryl would make an awesome Morrible though
if they ever do, i hope they get the orginal cast, or most at least (like rent). also, as long as thye have a good director, i think it might be worth seeing. rent is definately worth seeing, but christopher colombus took so much out of rent that rent actually lost some of its meaning. most of my friends hate it =[
but my main point is..if idina's in it, im in. same goes for kristin chenowith and norbert <3
I really don't think this would work with the music from the stage version... The only way it would work IMO is more based on the book. The music just doesn't seem to translate well to film. Can you really see Elphaba flying ON SCREEN and singing "Defying Gravity"? That seems, to me, like a moment that would only work on the stage.
I actually think that Wicked would be one of the easiest to adapt to a movie. The bad part about musicals going to the big screen is that they lose the "theatre" feel. It doesn't feel like "theatre" unless you are actually in a theatre watching it life, in my opinion. I still like the idea of putting musicals on film and giving others the opportunity to see the magic of Wicked. Kids would love it as many generations have loved "Wizard of Oz." A producer would look at this musical and notice how many special effects he could do! I think the effects would be so awesome on this musical, and although they would be computer generated, they would be breathtaking! I really think that a Wicked movie could have endless options! Im all for it!
Reese as G(a)linda and Kat McPhee as Elphaba!
