Muy interesante.
I would love to see and hear an Edna who can sing. No offense to Harvey, but he's not known for the warmth of his singing voice...
Michael McKean would look funny as hell in makeup, too. Just put a fat suit on him and let him go! Maybe I'll revisit Hairspray this summer whenever the new Edna is cast, whoever it may be!

Harvey will be missed, but they should use EVERYONE from the MIGHTY WIND movie that incredible ensemble to replace all the actors...Parker Posy as the Jackie Hoffman roles, and Jennifer Coolidge as Velma...worth the price of a ticket!

Michael McKean certantly looks like an Edna. Dont know about his voice but harvey will b truly missed =(.

All of the replacements so far have been as good or better then the originals, in my opinion. I wouldn't worry about who's replacing Fierstein, because whoever it is, he/she will be great, I'm sure. I don't know much about Mckean, so I can't really comment on what I think about his talent.

Billy, I have to politely disagree about your statement that all the replacements have been good or better than the originals. I saw Kathy Brier and I really didn't like her, while most people say that Marissa was phenomenal and from bits and pieces I have seen I have to agree. And I saw Aida with Richard h. Blake the same week I saw Hairspray in December and I can never imagine him being better than Matt who was the best thing I've seen on stage (ok, i am a little biased here, since I fell in love with him LOL) Anyway, this is just my opinion.

I have to back Greekmusicalfan up on the thought of Richard h. Blake as Link I still haven't seen him yet (I'm going on the 15) but I just can't see him being better then Matt. He might be good but I'm not going to go as far as better.
But then I have to back BillyLawlor when it comes the topic of Kathy Brier I think she is a very talented singer and I have seen her in the Show 3 times and I enjoy it just as much as when I saw Marissa the first two times. She's just different she does tend to lose some of the Jokes Marissa semed to get hesd on but I still fell she's a very talented woman. Again pussing it with the better then state ment but she's good.
Also on the topic of Jennefer,Chester, and Tracy there are wonderful at what they do I love what they brignt to the show and and would want to have seen anyone else take over there roles when the OBC memebrs left. I was so bumbed when I found out Kerry was Leaving but then I saw Jenn in the role and I was blow away. She along with the rest of the cast have done a fantasic job in there roles. I mean they have kept me comeing back fir the last 6 moths so I gues there doing somthing right! (I still miss my Link

Jennifer Coolidge makes me happy. She was so funny in Best in Show and also in Legally Blonde. Also, she was hilarious in "The Women."

Well he might be funny although Squiggy (The short one was the funny one on Laverne and Shirley) I know nothing about the actor he was on Saturday Night Live many years ago and he was great.
Personally I was hoping for the Dame but that was far fetched fantasy.
