A Show For The Mom

I will be taking my mother to her first Broadway show this October, and I just do not know what to take her to see. Here are my top choices. (One's I have not seen)

Aida
Avenue Q
The Lion King
The Boy From Oz
The Phantom of the Opera
Urinetown

She's not a big Broadway Musical person...

Here are some that I have seen, and will see again:

Gypsy
Mamma Mia!
42nd Street

Let me know!

Moms LOVE Phantom of the Opera. If it weren't for Moms, it woulda closed a decade ago. I believe this is mostly a result of the disappearance of the sex life after Moms have kids.

I think 42nd Street is the best choice. It's probably something she's heard of, it's very funny, and has great song and dance numbers, and an awesome story. If it's her first Broadway show, I would take her to see this.

Probably 42nd Street just cause its that big splashy musical that anyone will fall in love with the first time they see it.

If she's not a big broadway musical person I wouldn't take her to see something like 42nd street--a musical about a musical? Hello! Probably not her cup of tea. Lion King might be fun because aside from a few additions it uses songs she would be familiar with, providing she saw the Disney movie. Plus, the costumes and staging are so magnificant that even if she ends up hating the music she'd probably walk out liking the staging spectacle.

Your mom may be familiar with Harvey Fierstein so Hairspray could work as well. People may think it's more of a show for the young, but there were a lot of elderly couples in the audience the night that I went and they loved it.
GYpsy, is of course a classic, and she's probably heard of Bernadette, so your mother won't be disappointed.
Millie is another amazing show that is very comedic, that she owuld probably enjoy. Not to mention the songs and dances are great, and the characters are hysterical.
