I'm going to A Tree Grows in Brooklyn tomorrow for a class, but everything I've read says it doesn't open until Thursday. Since I don't think Encores! does previews, I'm assuming this is a dress rehearsal. Be that the case, I have a couple of questions...

Has anyone ever been to one of their dress rehearsals?
Do a lot of people typically go, and can you just buy tickets? (I'm basically wondering that so I know if we'll have to sit a mile away, or if I'll actually be able to see. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - dress rehearsal?)

Attendance at dress rehearsals is by invitation only -- no tickets are available to the general public. They're usually very well attended -- lots of students, Broadway insiders etc... City Center isn't exactly enormous and you should be fine as long as you're not seated in the top gallery.

Great, thanks! re: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn - dress rehearsal? I sat in the mezzanine there once and it wasn't too bad. I just sort of figured that if it was widely available, to cut down on costs we'd be far up. Maybe that's still a possibility, but I'll see tomorrow.

I have some kind of discusson before; anyone know what that's about?

Margo:

I am sitting in the third row center of the gallery for The Apple Tree. Will I be able to see? I am sitting in the side mezannine for Tree Grows in Brooklyn on Friday night. I have heard the rear gallery is horrible. What about the front? Please let me know...thanks!

I've only been up there once and wasn't crazy about it. The action on the stage just felt too far away for me, though you should be able to hear and see everything OK.

My friend's dragging me to the show b/c she likes a guy in the ensemble - will we even be able to see his adorable face?

Does anyone know where I can find a cheap pair of binoculars?

The problem that I have is that City Center wasn't designed so much for theater as for lectures. The side seats in the mezz and balcony are too far over.
