A cappella choir style orchestra

With the recent moves to cut musician costs, resulting in staging like in "Sweeney Todd." Has there been any productions that use vocal orchestrations? I am talking about the style used in college a cappella competitions where they use their voices to mimic instruments and percussion.

The DONMAR recording of Threepenny uses "vocal orchestrations" in the USELESS SONG (the Peachum solo in Act Three - I think three).

Sounds very Christmas-y.

They also used actor/musicians. So they really f'ed over the musicians. Updated On: 8/15/06 at 12:55 PM
