I hope these are allowed!
I don't do the casting game much, but I was really hung over this morning, listening to my London cast album of Night Music (revival w/ Judi Dench) and started casting the all star concert version in my head. All major roles must be played by a star no further down than B list with at least one major movie credit or stardom on a TV show. Here's what I came up with. Play along!
Desiree: Meryl Streep
Frederick: Kevin Klein
Mdme. Armfeldt: Shirley Maclaine (Postcards from the Edge reunion)
Charlotte: Bebe Neuwirth
Carl-Magnus: Hugh Jackman
Anne: Anne Hathaway
Henrick: ????? (help me out here...must fit the criteria)
Petra: Toni Collette
Fredricka: Brittany Snow??? (girl from AMERICAN DREAMS??)
Fun stuff. Of course, it will never happen. But just imagine, sitting in Carnegie Hall, hearing that glorious score and watching major stars tear into their roles. All dressed perfectly.
Swoon.

Can I recast Chicago!?
Velma: Michele Pawk
Roxie: Megan Mullally
Mama: Vicki Frederick
Billy: Denzel Washington (who knows if he can sing, but he makes for nice eye candy)
Amos: Michael Tucci
Mary Sunshine: Patrick Swayze (have you ever seen him in drag? he doesn't make a half bad looking woman... who knows if he could hit the notes.... but I would find it all pretty damn amusing)
Now I don't know if you wanted us to recast ALNM or if we could recast another show -- but there ya go :) :)
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
I was going for Night Music (just cause it's been in my head) but you can recast anything you want. I just question Michelle Pawk. Does she fit the criteria of one major movie role or stardom from TV. I'm asking. I don't know!
I would never, however, question her talent!

I know she's done a bunch of movies and TV.... off the top of my head, I know she was in Cradle Will Rock -- and on TV, Law and Order, Golden Girls, Quantum Leap and LA Law.
Im amused that you question Michele and Vicki :)
