Hi Gang,
Saw YF last night again and Roger Bart was out but I am happy to report his standby Jon Patrick Walker got MUCH better since I saw him last. I really enjoyed his performance this time. But anyway, in the scene (spoilers ahead) when they do the brain transference and they slide the monster in place the piece over his head (like an upside-down bowl) got stuck. Jon tried to free it, then Igor and Sutton but it was just stuck. It was bending backwards, and as they tried to move the monster and the (bowl) it would just not un budge. Finally Jon said "When the props are ready, I'm ready" which drew tremendous laughs and applause. The cast was cracking up also. Just when they had to resume, it just popped out from it's stuck position.
Now that my friends is live theatre at it's best! And if anyone was interested the balcony was closed and they moved all ticket holders to the mezzanine. The theatre was around 60% full. I must say the cast is still giving it their all though!
Hi Marway,
Was the rest of the principal cast in the show? Did you try to stage door?
Great story. That's nice they let people move to the mezzanine.
i just find it so interesting that, shows like this, Spring Awakening, and Sunday in the Park you could not get tickets to when they opened. Now you can get tickets that day!
"Now you can get tickets that day!"
And you can for most other shows too!
(What you described is typical...)
Hi mikem,
The rest of the principal cast was in but Matthew LaBanca was not. (Count Dracula). His understudy was not great and messed up the "flying sequence" during the "Ritz". He missed every jump in the air. But if you never saw the show before you would not have caught it.
I did stage door. Everyone came out within a half an hour except for Megan and Sutton. At that point I had to go but they all very nice and friendly. Andrea came out within 5 minutes and after signing for everybody and taking pictures and chatting she put on a helmet and got on a bike and pedaled away. Fred was asked if was true that the show was closing and he said "if you keep coming to see the show than no", if you don't then yes.
I think the show will fold shortly after the Tony's and I did ask an usher who said the same thing. I only hope the show to replace it in the Hilton will be a hit. It's starting to remind me of the formerly jinxed Marquis.
NO! I have tickets for July 3rd. That would just be my luck, whats that saying "If it wasnt for bad luck, I'd have none" Is the general consensus that YF is going to close rather quickly?
theatrelovr,
That is what I've been hearing but I personally think it will still be here on July 3rd. You know how shows usually post a closing for a month or two in advance.
So you've seen it before?
Yeah, it was good of 'Glory Days' to give two months notice before closing.
lol
