Why wasn't Nathan Gunn cast as "Emile de Becque" in "South Pacific". He can sing the part, and he looks like the Dream-man "Nellie" would fall in love with!

He is very much in his operatic prime at the moment, and can afford to let the musical performance opportunities wait until the later years of his career.

Paulo does look older, but I think Nathans' "Emile" would work better with Lauras' "Nellie", simply because she looks alot younger than (The Amazing) Kelly! And that makes Paulo look a bit too old (my personal opinion!)
