I've always wondered from reading and re-reading the text...why is Blanche so afraid to meet Stanley? She's clearly a big bundle of nerves throughout that whole first scene, and before she even meets him, she's relieved to hear that he travels a lot. If I'm not mistaken, this is her first meeting with him, so she's not yet familiar with the fact that he is in fact a rather scary fellow.

Thoughts?

"This is what I trained to do, and this is what I love about theater. What I love about being an actress is being able to really look into myself and understand another human being. And out my own self, to shape and form and fashion a real human being--and to present that in such a way that people see something of themselves or their own understanding in that human being." --Phylicia Rashad
