A serious question

Posted: 6/15/05 at 12:43amHonestly, how much longer do you think Beauty and the Beast will run on Broadway? Any chance of getting up there with a ACL or CATS? to beat cats its less than 3000 shows way. But seriously, do you all think its just taking up space at the BEAUTIFUL Lunt-Fontanne Theatre or are you glad its there and wish it a successful run for as long as it can go?

"RENT and WICKED are the worst shows ever"
Relevent to your initial "serious question"? Not so much, no...
In response to your question, I highly doubt it will be up there with Cats and the like. I just don't see it having that type of staying power. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it... but I just don't see it hanging around THAT long.

Just cuz of that last comment..I'm not a fan of you. That was pointless and stupid. Which makes me think you may be pointless and stupid :)
If that was relavant to the topic..which isn't much of "serious question" than ok. BUT it wasn't. Be gone..

You obviously missed the point...there were like 50 views and no replies...I wondered if peoples computers werent working, or if no one had anything to chime in on....I said that as a joke to see if people would respond. I don't care if you LIKE B&TB or not, but everyone has an opinion about it. Even those with no opinion still have one, by saying so.
Geeze, get over yourselves and breathe a little.

#11re: A serious question
Posted: 6/15/05 at 11:41pmNo, I don't think B&TB has that kind of staying power... I think pretty soon Disney is going to announce its closing so they'll attract more people.

#14re: A serious question
Posted: 6/15/05 at 11:50pmI think Disney will close Beauty so that it can open something new in that theatre. Because I am under the impression that Disney owns both the New Amsterdam and the Lunt-Fontanne. I may be wrong though.

I think B&TB won't last to beat Cats or POTO. It doesn't seem to have the staying power like it's fellow Disney sister show, TLK. Besides, with Disney getting ready to bring Mary Poppins and Tarzan to Broadway, they'll need to make room for those.

Posted: 6/16/05 at 2:03amOMG tarzan on broadway? i'd like to see that. Hopefully it will be Gavin or Cheyenne flying around stage in a loin cloth. **Peak a boo!**
#21re: A serious question
Posted: 6/16/05 at 2:58amI'm not sure if it has the kind of power to out run those shows. It seems just to fly under the radar, which may or may not be good. Until about a year ago, I didn't remember it was still playing at all. It just doesn't seem to generate any buzz, which could be good (no negative press, no controversy about it between vehement fans/non-fans) or it could be bad ("it's just another Disney show for families with young kids"). So frankly, it depends.
#23re: A serious question
Posted: 6/16/05 at 6:18amLess than 3000 shows away? Given that in a year, a Broadway show only racks up 416 performances (give or take) that's a LOT of years for Beauty And The Beast to run.

Posted: 6/16/05 at 1:58pmyeah, I know it would take years for it to catch up, but I asked because I didnt know if you guys thought it had the staying power....I mean, when they bring tarzan and poppins to broadway, do you think that they'll try to get rid of TLK and Beauty to make room, or will they keep those shows running add the other two and slowly start to dominate the great white way?
