A stunning farewell to Kelli O'Hara in Piazza

Posted: 12/5/05 at 11:10amI would never have made it through the performance without disolving into a sobbing wreck. I'm thrilled that Kelli had such a long and wonderful run with the show, and I hope she continues her upward arc toward stardom. I'll bet Victoria Clark is really gonna miss having her around.

Posted: 12/5/05 at 11:12amI am so choked up right now. Thanks everyone for all your posts. It's great to hear such wonderful things are happening to/for such a wonderful person and performer. Kelli is one of those people you want nothing but the best for. I agree with the Tony comment. She's due.

She made every moment of the show count.
Instead of the poke she gives Fabrizio, she left a handprint on his heart. As she has on mine, with her performance...

Great idea...
I'm actually going to create a Piazza love thread, now that I think about it.
That was stupid not to do it before.

Posted: 12/5/05 at 8:15pmI always picture Kelli sitting on the ruins at the beginning of Act II, wearing the Lana Turner scarf. She looked like a beautiful statue herself.

I had completely forgotten about the handprint. I noticed when it happened and I was like "Aww." But that seems to have gotten lost in the entirety of the experience yesterday.
Did you also notice how she took Aaron's hand as they walked offstage after the curtain call was over?
Beautiful day at the theatre.

Awwww! Thanks to everyone who was at the show yesterday for posting! It sounds like it was an amazing and emotional day. It's sinking in more and more for me that she's really gone, and it breaks my heart. She was so luminous up there, and she had these wonderful on-stage relationships with every character she interacted with. It was such a joy to experience five times.
Can't wait to see her in Pajama Game. After she's made such an indelible impression with Clara, it'll be interesting to see her take on Babe.
