#0A suprise trip to the theatre...
Posted: 11/1/03 at 6:05pmWell I had a good treat when I woke up today! My mom woke me up at 1 and asked me if I wanted to go see CATS. One of the people that was going to go became ill so they gave us the tickets. The show started at 2 so we hussled to get ready and go to the show. Right when we sat down the show began. For a future lighting designer, the show was amazing! All of the design elements were great. Even the string of lights going up the side of the orchestra seats was a great sight. The actors were wonderful. After the show was over, I went to the stage door and got Grizabella's autograph (she is young, but has a very powerful voice!), Mr. Mistofelle's autograph, Macavity's autograph, Mungojerrie's autograph, and Victoria's autograph. Since it was a matinee, I was suprised so many people came out! Some stayed in because they keep their makeup on for the evening show. I had a good time. With all of the kids in the audience, it was actually pretty quiet! The adults were worse than the kids.

Posted: 11/1/03 at 6:41pmIt was different, so therefore I didn't hate it. It was innovative. I saw it on Broadway in 1990 and I was 8 years old, so I was ammused by it. It was actually my first real Broadway show. Before then I had only seen local productions and shows at Radio City Music Hall. I don't think I would like it if I saw it now, but who knows.

The lyrics were witty ( after all it was taken from a classic) and some songs were very enjoyable. The dancing was also a breakout for British musicals... But it was rather repetitive.

Posted: 11/1/03 at 7:43pmI've seen two national tours of Cats and enjoyed them. The costumes, sets, makeup, and design all around are amazing.

Posted: 11/1/03 at 7:43pmI think non-Union because all of the bios did not say any broadway or anything. I don't know about you, but I love when a show is repetative! It adds so much to the feeling. I am not saying I love this show, but it isn't as awful as most people say. I was just curious why the house was full and the cast recieved a standing ovation when it just "SO AWFUL!"...
