Anyone seen it or know anything about the upcoming production at THE OLD GLOBE?
Matt Bogart was supposed to be reprising his role, along with a few of the other original cast members. I think there are 4 new cast members - I think. This is the 3rd (?) production of the show. I hear the music is great, but haven't heard any of it myself.
I ask because I heard a rumor that a certain favorite performer of mine, of a recent short lived musical may now be involved.
Let me do some snooping. I'm sure I can find out.

Curtain, I believe she was offered another gig as well. Last I spoke to her she wasn't able to confirm which gig she chose and I haven't heard otherwise yet...
A friend of mine did the demo for this a couple years back... it's pretty cool to see it materializing. It's in Toronto now, correct?
I've heard one song from this and I really really liked it...
Curtain, Have you seen here? Matt Sounds incredible! and I know who you are talking about.

I cannot speak more highly about Ace. It's BRILLIANT. I saw it in Cincy and I can honestly say it is probably the best new work I've seen in the past few years. The score is amazing and the story is compelling. I don't cry during musicals, and I thought it was a lot when I cried at the end of Act One, until I BAWLED throughout Act Two. The story is heartbreaking but inspirational . . . it's a truly amazing show. The entire cast in Cincy was great . . . Matt Bogart and Jessica Boevers were great, and the child actor (gah, I don't remember his name . . . ) was amazing. Basically, YAY ACE!

The kid was the best thing in the show, Matt was a little lackluster. Some of the songs are very good like "In These Skies," but then I felt like some of the songs were written in a musical theatre songwriting class. "Ok lets put a love duet in here and a french production number, a la Bring On The Men, here. Of the mother has to have a reprise of something so we can remember she is still in the first act." If they don't get that kid, Gavin . . . Something? Its funny I can't remember the most memorable part of the show. The story was a lot of fun and it was very original. I think that it needs a lot of work and some cuts. Then the show would be really a show to be seen.
What about the character who dies in the first act?
How were his songs?
He was my favorite character and had the best songs.
Congrats Michael Arden! it must be amazing...

Wow, I didn't know anything about this show but I need to catch the show since Michael and James Judy are in it (Big River Alumni).
I'm already seeing 13 and Sunday (Reprise!) in L.A. between Jan/Feb, but I have to get down to San Diego too. It'll be busy Jan and Feb!
