"Interviewed on the BBC Breakfast show, live from Hollywood, where composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is preparing for Sunday night's Oscars, on which he'll accompany Beyonce Knowles on his Oscar-nominated "Learn to Be Lonely" from the Phantom film..."

Beyonce, while not a Broadway star or anything, isn't that bad of a singer, and at least she doesn't slut herself.

I'm pretty indifferent either way, but why IS Beyonce performing this song instead of Minnie? From what I read, Minnie didn't bow out - she just wasn't asked.

According to ALW it is a ratings thing.. The powers that be feel that Beyonce would draw more viewers. He wanted Minnie to sing the song. They did not

Thanks sharon. That's interesting. She's already performing in a couple other songs so her "ratings" would already be there. I think more people would tune in to see Minnie sing at least because she's still a 'name' and they'd be curious to see how she sounds live, so I question their logic.

I agree with Tiff though, Minnie Driver is still a well-known actress. I guess Beyonce is more well known than her but....mlesh
