#1ALWAYS STARTING OVER - viable as a single ?
Posted: 6/4/14 at 10:25amAfter the radio success of “LET IT GO”, I think TEAM IDINA should consider an “adult contemporary” version of “ALWAYS STARTING OVER”. It is a worthy follow up single, IMO.

I'm actually wondering how they are going to do it on the Tonys haterobics.
I'll be surprised if this is made as a single. I enjoy it but I actually had to listen to it over and over again before I could really distinguish the melodies etc. I wouldn't say it is a catchy song like LET IT GO is.

#6ALWAYS STARTING OVER - viable as a single ?
Posted: 6/4/14 at 6:05pmI'm really hoping she sings "Always Starting Over" at the Tonys. "Learn to Live Without" is beautiful but it's not right for the broadcast in my opinion.

I don't think "Always Starting Over" is single material, personally. It's an 11:00 number, but it's a lot of histrionics without a very memorable hook, if you ask me. I found "Some Other Me" a much more memorable melody, and a song that's probably easier to translate to a single version (a la "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" - a duet in PROMISES, PROMISES - becoming a solo hit for Dionne Warwick.)
But I don't think much in the score is as strong a potential hit as "Let It Go" has been. Also, keeping in mind that IF/THEN has been seen by only a fraction of those who've seen FROZEN there isn't as wide a base on which to build a successful platform to launch. But if any show could launch a hit single, I'll agree Idina and IF/THEN might stand the best chance.

Posted: 6/5/14 at 11:45amIf they want to sell tickets through the summer, they need to have Idina belt out "Always Starting Over". She's already done "YLTLW" on national TV at least twice. It would feel very been-there-done-that on the Tonys.

I completely agree about YLTLW on the Tony's. Have heard that song on so many shows and clips. She had also been doing that one at concerts last year, I believe.
I would love to hear something different on Sunday.

For the love of God, if she doesn't sing ALWAYS STARTING OVER, I'm gonna be very sad.
Also, they could just have her say "Thank you for finding me and thank you for the care. And SCREW you for making me think..." possibly?

Posted: 6/5/14 at 3:53pmShe's been performing Learn to Live Without since (at least) her tour a couple of years ago, so I think it's always been the one that they've been pushing. I really hope she does Always Starting Over at the Tonys though, it would be really nice to hear her performing something different for a tv appearance

Most people watching the Tonys will likely have heard none of the songs from the show, though. I know tons of people who make a habit of watching the Tonys to decide what they want to see on Broadway, and whatever is performed is the basis for what they know/think about a show.
