Theatre Brochures, Beers and Tipping
 Apr 15 2026, 02:13:45 PM

It may be the same way in London (it's been 20 years since I saw a show there), but be aware that depending on where you're sitting and the actual theater layout, it could be a long haul down a lot of stairs to a basement to get to the bar where a lot of other people are trying to do the same thing. You may end up with just a couple of minutes to actually drink your beer before you have to go back to your seat. And if you need a visit to the loo, forget it. Some houses have multiple b

DEATH OF A SALESMAN 2026 Reviews

It appears the show is moving to a 7-show week. A couple of online reports have indicated people are receiving performance cancellation messages for Tuesdays in May. The Telecharge schedule shows some May Tuesdays and nearly all June and July Tuesdays will be dark in addition to Mondays. Was this always the schedule, or is eight shows a week of this material proving too much for the cast to handle?

Deaf West Revival of Whistle Down the Wind

The article indicates this will be faithful to the 1996 production. Maybe a new directorial vision will help, but that show at the National back in '96 was one of the dullest evenings I ever spent in a theater.

So many reviews are specifically lionizing the direction. Wonder if Mantello is on the way to his third Tony.

The Balusters seems to be getting lost in the shuffle of new plays.

I mean, in what world does it not get nominated?

DOG DAY AFTERNOON Previews
 Mar 30 2026, 11:19:16 AM

There's a post on page 3 of this thread that details some changes from early previews. It notes that the running time is now 2:15 (down considerably) and there has been some shifting of tone.

Looking forward to seeing it later in April. Bernthal and Moss-Bachrach were on Today last week and they were very funny. Hoping it at least works as a vehicle for them.

I nearly fell asleep looking at the photos of the marquee, so I hope what's on stage has more life.

Sardi’s Sold to the Shuberts; Will Undergo Renovations
 Mar 27 2026, 02:21:37 PM

Agree re: the food and the fugly recent caricatures. I do enjoy the experience of it though. I'll be there in April before Giant, so I guess one last visit while it's still Classic Sardi's. Then we'll just hope they keep the vibe while goosing the details.

seatplan.com is also a very good resource. I find better information on there than on AVfMS many times.

THE LOST BOYS Previews

I feel like early previews are going to determine whether this is just bad, or so bad you have to see it to believe it.

Would be great to have a surprise end-of-season hit, but nothing that's been shared hints at that so far.

GIANT Previews

Somehow the Dumpster-firing of this thread has made me lose all enthusiasm for actually seeing the play.

There is still a play, right?

Plays You Hope Get Revived

I'm surprised A Few Good Men hasn't gotten a starry revival, since the movie has become such a pop culture linchpin.

Alicia Keys' Broadway Bomb — Singing Sensation's Musical 'Loses a Staggering $8Million'

$8 million isn’t really that big a loss on Broadway nowadays, unfortunately.

Cut Songs from Broadway Musicals - MASTER LIST
 Mar 10 2026, 04:01:19 PM

Depending on how strict the definition of "cut" is, "Too Much for One Heart" wasn't really cut from Miss Saigon. It was given new lyrics and became "Please" in the original production, then was restored to the original version in the revival.

Linda Eder is the greatest singer of all time
 Feb 17 2026, 08:49:42 AM

She seems to focus mainly on the NY area, Florida, and California these days for her concerts. She only does a handful of dates a year. I assume a lot of this is because she hates to fly. I saw her over a decade ago in Boone, NC, and she said she had driven two days from her home in Connecticut because she didn't want to get on a plane.

She certainly could have had more Broadway gigs if she'd wanted to, but from her YouTube vlog it seems like she'd much rather be at hom

TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) Reviews
 Feb 9 2026, 03:36:02 PM

Heads-up that the regular prices for this spring have dropped on Telecharge. What was a $179 seat in April is now $149, and other such reductions for those who want to buy ahead.

March trip - what do I need to get in advance?
 Feb 7 2026, 10:18:49 PM

I generally avoid the 100s and 500s at the Beaumont. They’re cheaper, but in the past I’ve found that’s a “you get what you pay for” situation, though it can vary by production.

if you opt for DoaS, the Winter Garden is wide rather than deep. I would focus more on being closer to the center rather than how far back you are. I saw The Music Man from the last row center, and it was perfectly fine (if still overpriced).

Musical adaptation of THE LOST BOYS.

The cast is certainly giving it their all, but the lyrics are like a dictionary of cliches.
