Linda Eder is the greatest singer of all time Feb 17 2026, 08:49:42 AM
She seems to focus mainly on the NY area, Florida, and California these days for her concerts. She only does a handful of dates a year. I assume a lot of this is because she hates to fly. I saw her over a decade ago in Boone, NC, and she said she had driven two days from her home in Connecticut because she didn't want to get on a plane.
She certainly could have had more Broadway gigs if she'd wanted to, but from her YouTube vlog it seems like she'd much rather be at hom

TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) Reviews Feb 9 2026, 03:36:02 PM
Heads-up that the regular prices for this spring have dropped on Telecharge. What was a $179 seat in April is now $149, and other such reductions for those who want to buy ahead.

March trip - what do I need to get in advance? Feb 7 2026, 10:18:49 PM
I generally avoid the 100s and 500s at the Beaumont. They’re cheaper, but in the past I’ve found that’s a “you get what you pay for” situation, though it can vary by production.
if you opt for DoaS, the Winter Garden is wide rather than deep. I would focus more on being closer to the center rather than how far back you are. I saw The Music Man from the last row center, and it was perfectly fine (if still overpriced).

The cast is certainly giving it their all, but the lyrics are like a dictionary of cliches.

Absolutely. I'm holding one last slot on my April trip, and it will come down to this, Chess, or Fear of 13. But I'm waiting for early word on the latter two before deciding. Vampire musicals have a rocky history at best, so I'

THE FEAR OF 13 Announcement Coming Tomorrow? Jan 13 2026, 04:31:43 PM
Sutton Ross said: "The theaters are all booked. The only way there would be something else is if the funding falls through for one of these announced productions. I'm most disappointed in Gun & Powder that could have come in this season as they announced, secured a theater, but held off for whatever reason.
Bummer. Is that still the name of that production? I thought they changed it but I could be wrong."
Didn't they change it to

This Oscar Season Don’t Forget About ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ Dec 18 2025, 08:42:42 AM

Seconded.

Kristin sure seems accident-prone at work. Hope she’ll recover from this one. I think I saw her say pretty recently she still has occasional issues from when that light rig fell on her head at The Good Wife.

Are There More New Musicals Coming? Nov 18 2025, 02:40:18 PM
Everything I've heard from Lost Boys sounds fine for Top 40 radio, but terrible as musical theater songs. Too much repeated chorus at the end, pedestrian lyrics, and very little characterization. Maybe it works better in context, but it's so hard to get past knowing the history of vampire musicals on Broadway.
I don't know a lot about Benjamin Button, but it seems to have some promise. I'm guessing the Majestic would be too big, and it needs a more med

Niche/offbeat but high quality Sondheim performances - what are your fav? Nov 10 2025, 10:54:20 AM
Country/pop queen Faith Hill did an achingly wistful rendition of "Send in the Clowns" at the 2011 MusiCares Person of the Year concert honoring Barbra Streisand. This was one of her final live performances before stepping out of the public eye to raise her children. The clip is available online.

Best Midtown Restaurants? Oct 15 2025, 04:23:31 PM
AperiBar in the Luma Hotel just off Bryant Park is a great little upscale Italian place hidden at the back of the lobby. They have smaller plates, so you're not stuffed before a show -- and the prices acknowledge it. Charlie Palmer is the mind behind it. We've dined there several times and always been happy.

LITTLE BEAR RIDGE ROAD Previews Oct 9 2025, 09:16:49 AM
Can anyone who has been to the Broadway previews comment on the set design? Simple is one thing, but the transition to the bar scene by using the back of the sofa as a bar-rail in the Chicago production just looked cheap to me. I mean, there could have at least been a telescoped neon beer sign or something. Has that been jazzed up at all?
Also, is the final scene still staged with only Laurie Metcalf's arm visible? It didn't fully land for me, and I wondered if they had tweaked

Dolly! The Musical coming to Broadway 2026? Oct 2 2025, 10:11:29 AM
Dolly's concert postponements in Las Vegas due to health challenges may be another reason to back-burner this for a bit. If she's not well enough to perform that short residency at the current time, the rigors of producing a Broadway musical would probably not be in her long-term wellness best interests either.

Little Bear Ridge Road, Previews October 7th Sep 20 2025, 08:58:35 PM
I loved it in Chicago, but I can’t see this being a commercial hit on Broadway. It’s a downer, and though the acting is first-rate, the subject matter is a tough sell. I do hope they tweak the set just a bit. The minimalism wasn’t a problem per se, but using the back of the sofa as a bar rail when the scene transitions to a local pub screamed cheap (and a bit lazy). They could also rethink the last couple of minutes. I’m not sure it quite accomplished everything it was

Michael Arden to direct musical adaptation of THE LOST BOYS, with music by The Rescues Sep 11 2025, 10:00:18 AM
Michael Arden is a terrific director, but the two songs I've heard from this make it hard to hope. Repetitive like pop songs and no characterization.
