You don't want a giant downer for your Tony showcase.

2026 Tony Awards Performance Predictions (or What Songs They Should and Will Perform) Jun 4 2026, 03:39:14 PM
Ragtime should have Ben Levi Ross introduce a medley of "Our Children" leading into the back half of "Wheels of a Dream." That would showcase all their nominees and the songs would be linked by theme.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/31/26 Jun 4 2026, 10:56:01 AM
Not sure how the thread on the grosses got to this point, but while Arden deserves some credit for saving The Lost Boys from being a complete disaster... it is not possible for me to see him getting a third Tony in the same season he laid that giant Queen of Versailles egg.

Salesman's numbers are even more i

Announced replacements that never happened May 28 2026, 10:04:24 AM
Question related to this kind of thing: Would someone like JoJo be eligible for any kind of compensation in a circumstance like this? They may have declined other work due to a commitment that is now void.

Are Shows Starting Later These Days? May 27 2026, 02:53:18 PM
For a long time, I always heard that shows started at eight minutes past the posted curtain time. But this season, I saw ten shows on Broadway, and they all started at five past the hour.

I did too. I could see this being successfully adapted to a series on one of the streamers.

TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) Reviews May 22 2026, 01:59:13 PM
MadsonMelo said: "I think this takes Score and that's it."
Second that opinion. It's a cute show but not one that's going to sweep awards. It'll be done far and wide regionally. I found Sam Tutty winning and adorable, so I'm not sure how it would play with a Dougal who's not at his level.

Who's taking Leading Actress in a Musical this year? May 14 2026, 11:56:11 AM
As certain as it can be with these things that this is Caissie's. I just hope she honors the late, great Marin Mazzie in her acceptance.

Who Is Your One Personal MUST WIN Tony Award This Year? May 6 2026, 10:04:17 AM
Joe Mantello. One of those instances where I could see the director's vision the whole way through but it still managed to be unobtrusive and let the cast sparkle. This is nearly always the goal, but it doesn't often happen this seamlessly.
(If Salesman swept, I would be ecstatic, but this is the one I really want most.)

Theatre Brochures, Beers and Tipping Apr 15 2026, 02:13:45 PM
It may be the same way in London (it's been 20 years since I saw a show there), but be aware that depending on where you're sitting and the actual theater layout, it could be a long haul down a lot of stairs to a basement to get to the bar where a lot of other people are trying to do the same thing. You may end up with just a couple of minutes to actually drink your beer before you have to go back to your seat. And if you need a visit to the loo, forget it. Some houses have multiple b

DEATH OF A SALESMAN 2026 Reviews Apr 15 2026, 09:01:35 AM
It appears the show is moving to a 7-show week. A couple of online reports have indicated people are receiving performance cancellation messages for Tuesdays in May. The Telecharge schedule shows some May Tuesdays and nearly all June and July Tuesdays will be dark in addition to Mondays. Was this always the schedule, or is eight shows a week of this material proving too much for the cast to handle?

Deaf West Revival of Whistle Down the Wind Apr 14 2026, 09:08:19 AM
The article indicates this will be faithful to the 1996 production. Maybe a new directorial vision will help, but that show at the National back in '96 was one of the dullest evenings I ever spent in a theater.

So many reviews are specifically lionizing the direction. Wonder if Mantello is on the way to his third Tony.

DOG DAY AFTERNOON Previews Mar 30 2026, 11:19:16 AM
There's a post on page 3 of this thread that details some changes from early previews. It notes that the running time is now 2:15 (down considerably) and there has been some shifting of tone.
Looking forward to seeing it later in April. Bernthal and Moss-Bachrach were on Today last week and they were very funny. Hoping it at least works as a vehicle for them.
