The prices are actually somewhat reasonable by today's standards. I got row M in the orchestra for $129 on a Saturday night. There are some $99 orchestra seats.

Surely the stars' original contracts are up by now. Maybe they would like the holidays off and the producers would rather just close with the original leads instead of replacements and covers. Saw the original production with its second cast -- Joel Higgins and Tom Wopat -- and absolutely loved it. Michael Blakemore's direction was crackling (some of those transitions - bravo!) and the score is brassy and funny and sublime. Would love to experience the OG Sweeney Todd cast and production at the then-Uris. I guess the tour recording is fairly close, but the full live experience would be even better. On the topic of getting older -- I always start to feel elderly when something I saw the original cast of gets revived. Ragtime should have Ben Levi Ross introduce a medley of "Our Children" leading into the back half of "Wheels of a Dream." That would showcase all their nominees and the songs would be linked by theme.

For a long time, I always heard that shows started at eight minutes past the posted curtain time. But this season, I saw ten shows on Broadway, and they all started at five past the hour.
