Re: 2026-2027 Broadway Season

I had a little trouble filling an early December trip as well. Currently have:Wed mat: 860Wed eve: Lea Salonga at 54 BelowThur mat: Inter AliaThur eve: Other Desert CitiesFri eve: A Few Good MenSat mat: Imitation of Life at The ShedSat eve: Open 860 and Imitation of Life are just taking a flyer on unknown quantities that at least have solid people involved. Have one slot to fill Saturday evening. Maybe Wanted,

Saw the original production with its second cast -- Joel Higgins and Tom Wopat -- and absolutely loved it. Michael Blakemore's direction was crackling (some of those transitions - bravo!) and the score is brassy and funny and sublime. I guess we haven't had a revival because it's not as well known a title as it should be and period pieces are expensive, but it seems like this should be able to attract a crackerjack cast. Could we get Jonathan Groff and Jeremy Jordan and Stine and Stone and An...

If I Had A Broadway Time Machine… April-May 1966

Would love to experience the OG Sweeney Todd cast and production at the then-Uris. I guess the tour recording is fairly close, but the full live experience would be even better. On the topic of getting older -- I always start to feel elderly when something I saw the original cast of gets revived. Miss Saigon was the first time with Falsettos close behind, but it's beginning to happen with more frequency now with Sunset Blvd. and Ragtime -- and Other Desert Cities coming up. (Admittedly, ODC

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 6/15/26

Was last week the musical’s first profitable one? $1.1 million is a nice bounce but doesn’t seem like anything extraordinary unless my guess on running costs is too high.I am not countingRagtimeandDeath of a Salesman, which won and had strong weeks. Butboth of those shows would probably have done well regardless."Giant did 8 performanc

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/31/26

Not sure how the thread on the grosses got to this point, but while Arden deserves some credit for saving The Lost Boys from being a complete disaster... it is not possible for me to see him getting a third Tony in the same season he laid that giant Queen of Versailles egg.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/24/26

bear882 said: "I realize it was a holiday weekend, but it’s still nice to see positive numbers for almost everything - and the exceptions either feel irrelevant (Death of a Salesman’s grosses dropped a bit but are still excellent at a sold out Winter Garden) or expected(Maybe Happy Ending’s decline was predictable in the week after Darren Criss’ second exit from the show)." Salesman's numbers are even more irrelevant considering that according to the charts, they did 8 shows last week and 7 t...

Announced replacements that never happened

Question related to this kind of thing: Would someone like JoJo be eligible for any kind of compensation in a circumstance like this? They may have declined other work due to a commitment that is now void.

Are Shows Starting Later These Days?

May 27, 2026 — 2:53:18 PM

For a long time, I always heard that shows started at eight minutes past the posted curtain time. But this season, I saw ten shows on Broadway, and they all started at five past the hour.

I could see this being successfully adapted to a series on one of the streamers.

TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) Reviews

MadsonMelo said: "I think this takes Score and that's it."Second that opinion. It's a cute show but not one that's going to sweep awards. It'll be done far and wide regionally. I found Sam Tutty winning and adorable, so I'm not sure how it would play with a Dougal who's not at his level.

Who Is Your One Personal MUST WIN Tony Award This Year?

May 6, 2026 — 10:04:17 AM

Joe Mantello. One of those instances where I could see the director's vision the whole way through but it still managed to be unobtrusive and let the cast sparkle. This is nearly always the goal, but it doesn't often happen this seamlessly. (If Salesman swept, I would be ecstatic, but this is the one I really want most.)
