'ANN' closing June 30th! :(

The night I attended was an evening attended by industry professionals. I overheard many talking shop at intermission about the touring potential, what they envisioned would be needed (or more appropriately not needed), etc

Even on a Friday night a few weeks back the theater was hardly half full. We all know that is not a good sign for a Friday night.

Possibly a more intimate space would be more appropriate for this production. Since it is a one woman show I think close to the performer would strike a greater connection. Too bad the Helen Hayes Theater wasn't available for this.

The show is also limited in appeal to an older generation. I'm 40 and was on the cusp of remembering who she was couples with the fact that she was from Texas so not so visible as a local politician.

I think it could have life on the road but in carefully selected locations for short runs.

I saw ANN at the Kennedy Center and loved it, and that is saying something because I'm a Bush Republican. What I still can't figure out was who thought it was a good idea to have this show play the Vivian Beaumont? It seems like such a small show, to play such a large theater?

Anyway, Holland Taylor is fantastic in the show and this is such a labor of love. If you follow her on Twitter, than you see first hand how much she loves this show and its fans.

What I really appreciate is that she took a highly partisan figure, and refocused the show about Richard's life in public service.

I look forward to an America which will steadily raise the standards of artistic accomplishment and which will steadily enlarge cultural opportunities for all of our citizens. - JFK
