I heard a rumor that Aaron Tveit of Hairspray had auditioned for the show as the part of Eric and actually recieved a callback, so i was just curious as to what people thought if he was to be casted in the role.
whats with all the mermaid threads btu i haven't heard anything
Last I hear from the famous "reliable source" is that Eric has been cast and it is an unknown actor -- at least to New York. Maybe Aaron had a callback for an Eric understudy? Time will tell.
Well, having a callback and getting the role are two completely different things
Disney typically has 8 callbacks per lead role and I know that for Tarzan, Josh had about 15
Best of luck to Tveit if he got it?
The person in the "Little Mermaid" thread claiming to have some inside information posted some casting notices that went out as recent as last week for both Ariel and Eric.
Both stated nothing about an understudy, and if that's what they were casting, they would have put it on the sheet, as some performers might not want to be seen if it's not for a principle role.
My guess is that neither role has been cast, so if Tveit has gone in for it, it would have been for Eric in a principle capacity.
Well, I adored him in Hairspray...so I wouldn't argue....

There is an offer out for Eric, and it's not Tviet.
I am the "person" with the inside info. Jacob is right. I have heard that an offer has been made. Don't expect an announcement any time soon though as the ad for the regular EPA audition has been posted to Playbill and probably will be on the Equity site within a few days. They are listing all roles. Sadly this usually means that they are done with their principal casting and are just fulfilling their union requirements and are filling any gaps in the cast. Getting in an original cast ain't easy folks.
