According to this page on Amazon, the Newsies Original Broadway Cast Recording will be released on May 15, 2012.

With them recording so early in March I have to say I'm a bit surprised this is going to take this long to get out- I would think they would want to get this out ASAP- this show is pretty hot right now- needless to say I am looking forward to this as well!

Keep in mind release dates on Amazon are tentative and can be pushed back or brought forward. When do cast recording tend to be released after being recorded?

I'm surprised they would wait this long, too. But, Jonwo, to answer your question, I'd say it kind of varies. However, Bonnie & Clyde recorded their cast recording in early January and it isn't being released until April 24th. So it might be a pretty long process.

Two months for a cast recording after a show has opened is fairly short, I imagine a lot of new shows wait until it's officially been opened before considering a cast recording.

I wouldn't be surprised if a digital version is released in April before the CD release.

I wish "Seize the Day" wasn't the top song being voted for to be streamed on Monday...we've heard the cast perform that song so many times now (I know, it's live vs. recorded but still) I want to hear one of the other songs from the show given that I haven't seen it yet. :/

I voted for Carrying the Banner, great as Seize the Day is, they've sung it twice on two different shows, wouldn't mind hearing King of New York to see if it is any different from the Macy's performance.
