Ran into Julia Murney and Kendra Kassebaum on their way to a rehearsal at the Gershwin with the rest of the cast (playing opposite them will be Sebastian Arcelus, Jayne Houdyshell, David Garrison (till June), and Cristy Candler as Nessarose.)
I didn't realize that they started rehearsals so early.
Later in the evening, at the Sushi place on 8th Avenue and 45th, sat across from Tina Maddigan, Christina Sivrich, and another Wedding Singer cast member whom I didn't recognize.
Though my personal favorite moment was sitting across from 2 members of Chorus Line - Natalie Cortez and Heather Parcelles. Why was that my favorite? For the unintentional faux pas made by the gentlemen sitting on their other side. Cortez had left, I'm sure Parcelles didn't hear, and I'm sure these people had no idea that the actors were sitting next to them. One guy was talking to another, in a conversation that went like this:
Guy 1: So whatcha see today?
Guy 2: Chorus Line.
Guy 1: Oh, really? How was it?
Guy 2 (loudly for everyone to hear): Ehhhhhhh, I didn't really like it.
And the moral is talk low.

Nice.
I love those awkward, foot-in-mouth moments.

1) "Eh, didn't really like it" is hardly a harsh comment.
2) Heather Parcells can handle it!

That's awesome! I like them a lot and I'm glad they're moving to Broadway.

Posted: 12/28/06 at 1:10amyeah that's not too bad as far as bad-mouthing goes. not everyone is going to love everything they see. still, bad timing! reminds me of that scene from NOTTING HILL where those guys are REALLY badmouthing the Julia Roberts character at the restaurant.

What's the big deal about their comments? The show recieved mediocre reviews and if he dropped $111 and didn't care for it, he has a right to tell his friend that. Maybe the actresses will work a little harder at their next performance having heard that.

Posted: 12/28/06 at 8:00amI never said it was terrible - I said it was an amusing unintentional faux pas. Those words didn't fit in the subject line.

Oh, I know. I was just pointing out that i'm sure they've heard worse. You can tell from the stage if someone in the front row isn't thrilled. And hopefully you work harder to impress him or her from then on...
I'm also sure they are used to eating in the theatre district and hearing others badmouth theirs and other shows.

That's pretty tame considering some of the conversations I've heard at neighboring tables, and sometimes, I must admit, at my own.
They'll survive. They have a job for at least a year.

Posted: 12/28/06 at 10:28amTry talking about how flawed ACL is with a friend, then having someone next to you chime in (agreeing) and turn to see that is an original cast member. Now THAT is amazing. Someone told me that happened to them-and they all went on to discuss the many flaws of the revival. HA! People have opinions..it's entertainment...and others are bound to hear it..as long as it's not personal or mean.

I too had an embarassing Chorus Line moment.
While it was in previews I was in front of the theater and I reviewd in a negative fashion a picture of Charlotte rather loudly. And as I turn around Michael Berresse walks past me. Ugh, I wanted to crawl under a rock.

"Maybe the actresses will work a little harder at their next performance having heard that. "
I think the man just didn't like the show in general. It couldn't have been a couple of actresses that made him not like it. The cast of ACL works hard enough.

B3TA07- a faux pas is an unintentional comment or action that would not have been made if the person doing so was more aware of the situation.
Wikipedia defines it as: a violation of accepted, although unwritten, social rules.
In this case, had the guy known that two A Chorus Line actresses were sitting next to him, he probably would not have made the comment. Since it’s a commonly used term, I doubt Yankeefan holds its copyright.
