I worked for Skadden, Arps in NYC (1982-5) and LA. I later worked for Clifford Chance, but in their (short-lived) LA office. I, too, remain friends with many of the artists I met at such places. (And a large firm becomes a sort of theatergoing community that supports one another's shows.)

I remember vividly T.R. Knight (during his run in the 2001 Broadway revival of NOISES OFF) exiting the stagedoor of the Brooks Atkinson Theatre wearing his Bed, Bath & Beyond name tag on his polo shirt.
