Like everyone else here, I STILL don't understand what you're trying to say...

I just feel if they are really, "people" with all the rights everyone else is entitled to why would you want to bother anyone before a show unless they said they don't mind in advance?
It's just not part of the job requirement. It may help if you want to be more popular but I agree, it just seems like you are expecting too much and are now disappointed with the results. Some performers might get to work early and don't mind hanging around the stage door but I don't think this happens too often?
I'm sorry you are disappointed but no one, as far as I know, is expected to talk to strangers? It's nice to say hello but other than that? You can complain but it has nothing to do with how much a person makes? Unless you personally are signing their paychecks, of course. Than at least they have to "act" like they are paying attention to the conversation some.
Maybe, if you start waving $100 bills more actors will stop and talk to you? Just a suggestion.

I know this is probably not going to be a popular opinion, but I honestly feel that stage-dooring IS part of the job on Broadway. And this is from an actor (tho one who's never been blessed to do the Great White Way).
I was once treated very rudely by Patti LuPone with a disabled friend who absolutely idolized her. My friend was so shocked (she had come at great expense & difficulty just to meet Patti) that she burst into tears. Patti saw her crying & did/said nothing, just went on her way like we were annoyances. This has colored my opinion of her ever since. A moment taken to sign a program & say "Thank you" or just "Hi" would not have inconvenienced her in the slightest. She just went to the corner & hailed a cab, which took longer than a kindness to my friend would have taken. This was after a matinee when everyone else waiting had given up & left. We were the only ones there.
The few times I've waited before a show, the actors have always been gracious & took the time to talk a bit since there weren't many fans there.

to anyone confused by the original poster (cause I know I was and I know what I said), he is referring to what I said here:

I didn't argue that actors don't poop. I didn't say that actors can/should be rude at the stage-door. I said that I think stage-dooring after a show is out of hand, but at least then an actor can focus on the fans because the show is behind them. Waiting at the stage-door before a show is not as considerate since an actor likely has a lot more going on with the show ahead of them. You can convolute or mis-represent my opinion (though I'm guessing your cloudy writing on my position was unintentional), but as I stated in my original post, it's just one person's opinion about this relatively recent phenomenon.
For the record, I have no problem with people waiting at a stage-door after a show. Most are very nice and respectful and actually fun. I have a problem when people feel they are entitled to something beyond a professional performance on stage. People come with an agenda ("I'm gonna get my pic with so-and-so for my facebook page") which has very little to do with acknowledging a performance and a lot to do with social status (hey friends, look at my pic with so-and-so) and when that doesn't happen, they act as if they have somehow been wronged. And then there are the eBay people.

for the most part... but i don't care what anybody says, Andrea Burns is a goddess. And there must be something supernatural going on in Raul Esparza's vocal chords... but otherwise yes, they are just people and that INCLUDES OBCs.

Yes, actors are people...just like me! That's why I stage door RENT every chance I get and try to find out the cellphone number of whoever is playing Mimi! I mean, they're just people, right? We can be friends because I'm such a fan!!
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

I've forgotten most of the logic course I took, but:
If actors are people,
and soylent green is people,
then are actors soylent green?
If actors are people,
and soylent green is people,
then are actors soylent green?

No kidding...? WHAT a revelation!
Just remember, they are entitled to a private life, as well...if they are doing publicity, fine, but if they are going about their lives, let's give them some space, and bother them to a minimum...:{ I think just acknowledging that we recognize them, is a booster for most actors...
