Posted: 6/12/11 at 1:46pmI've always wondered..Do actors get paid for each promotional event they do? For example, did Jessica Phillips get paid for singing "I Miss the Mountains" in Bryant Park last summer to promote NEXT TO NORMAL?

Posted: 6/12/11 at 6:57pmfrom other conversations we've had they do NOT get paid for all promotional appearances. I believe it depends on a variety of things, but I pretty clearly remember that if they do costumes or makeup then they must be paid. I cannot remembe any other stipulations.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Posted: 6/12/11 at 7:14pmI'm guessing depending on contractual stipulations and the calibre of star it would vary. The kids from HAIR I'm sure did much of their publicity for free while someone of the level of say, Sutton Foster, probably has it in her contract that she must get paid to appear somewhere. Unless of course it's charity-related which is usually a given freebie for obvious reasons.
