Uta Hagen didn't just teach David Hyde Pierce, she and her husband the great actor Herbert Berghof ran HB Studio, where many well known actors teach or have taught including Austin Pendleton, Helen Gallagher, Donna McKechnie, Anne Jackson and the late William Hickey.
I studied with Hickey. He was a loving, lovable, eccentric who loved to talk, sometimes for up to an hour after each student's work was presented; often in seemingly elliptical stories from his life and career. But he almost always had an important point. Ever the great clown, as Hagen called him, he lived to entertain his class, and most of his students adored him.
Of the many famous actors who teach or have taught, Olympia Dukakis comes to mind.

henrik, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on your experiences with William Hickey. I've always loved his film work and wish I had been around to see him perform in the theater.

Barbara Harris is currently living in Scottsdale, AZ. I believe she teaches privately.
Kathleen Turner has taught an acting seminar at NYU in the past; not sure if she still does. Kaitlin Hopkins (Shirley Knight's daughter, who starred in BAT BOY and BARE) is the Chair of Musical Theatre at Texas State, San Marcos. Tony-winner Michele Pawk is a professor of theatre at Wagner College on Staten Island.

I'm not sure if he's teaching anymore, but Austin Pendleton is still listed as Faculty on the Website for The New School, which cites him as an acting instructor at HB Studios. (HB's site now lists him as a member of the Board of Directors.)

Kristin Johnston teaches for NYU/Atlantic, presumably in the Practical Aesthetics.
The best actor/teacher I had was Victor Slezak at the HB Studio. He's something of an Uta Hagen fundamentalist, but he's still a great teacher who doesn't stand for a lot of nonsense. He works so much as an actor, however, he doesn't keep a regular class, which is a pity.

I also took class with Bill Hickey. Friday nights 8-10pm. Most of the time he'd be involved in telling a story and so the class would drag on until 10:30 or 11pm. Uta's daughter Letty, who was in charge of locking up, would be pissed off when the class finally let out.
I always felt sorry for Hickey. He was a short, thin man. He would stand in the middle of Bank Street and try to hail a cab. None of the cabs driving down Washington Street could ever see him.
