Posted: 5/11/14 at 6:20pmHello. We're Doing Addams Family next year and don't have a enough of a budget to afford a full pit of musicians that the score calls for. Is there any solution to minimize and reduce the number of instruments and just have the necessary stuff? Thank you!

A good musical director will be able to help you with that. I'm not exactly sure of the legality, but I know a lot of low budget regional companies do that.

"Low budget regional companies"? Well if that isn't a little bit of a slap... Lol.
TRW, who license Addams family, offer one of the better digital orchestra augmentation systems should definitely be offering that for Addams Family if you check their website,

I've certainly seen my share of brilliant regional productions that were staged with very little. I was just trying to point out that it's not uncommon for these companies to use their own reduced orchestration.

Every company, of any size has limitations.
And the vast majority of theatres reduce or augment in some fashion. Clearly the licensing houses are well aware.
