I wasn’t clear. I wasn’t suggesting that she refuse the Tony. She deserves every ounce of alloy that is now sitting on her mantelpiece. I loved the show she help bring to the stage.
I was writing specifically about the EGOT, a construct that exists solely in the imagination of those of us who enjoy chatting about such things and therefore gives us a little freedom to question the rules. Regarding this thread, I hope that Adele earns her EGOT someday for having written a fabulous Broadway score. And I look forward to opening night.

Understood. I agree with your assessment of the EGOT. It's refreshing to receive a mature/adult response on this forum as opposed to the obnoxious ones I've been subjected to.
